I had a consultation for 230-degree cheekbone reduction, but because my bone was thin, fixation was also recommended. Basically, they refine everything overall, including the lateral cheekbones, 45-degree cheekbone shaving, and posterior cheekbones. Pin fixation is optional, but it seems they tell you that strong fixation is needed when necessary. For the pins, both absorbable pins and regular plates are possible, but absorbable pins cost extra.
