In 2017, I had double eyelid surgery with the buried-suture method and epicanthoplasty. At the time, I emphasized that I didn’t mind if it wasn’t very pretty, as long as it looked as natural as possible. Right after surgery, recovery was fast, and the line was made so thin that when I wore glasses, people could barely tell. But 2 months later, the right side came undone (it came undone as soon as the doctor cut open a pimple on the double eyelid line with a scalpel), so I had a revision to pinch the end part again. One year later, the left side came undone, so I had the outer end of the left eye touched up again too. But the balance of the left line didn’t match well, so the front part of the eye loosened slightly and became two lines (it didn’t show when I opened my eyes, and it was a complex only I knew about). Until then, I trusted the doctor, so I went back, and the doctor suggested pinching only “one stitch” again at the front of the left eye. I was unsure, so even on the day of surgery, I asked the doctor whether they would do it if it were them.. (Since both sides weren’t hugely different or anything, I thought it would be fine to just live with it.)
The doctor said to trust them and do it, so I did, but the result got worse The left line became lower overall than before, turning into an inner double eyelid, and the thickness of the line became different from the right side, so they’re uneven now.
I hesitated a lot about that last surgery.... Now I’m just not doing it again and keeping the unevenness. They said they would redo it, but the more it repeats, the more hesitant I become.
My friend who had surgery on the same day is still maintaining her double eyelids... She actually made hers bigger than mine and as an outline crease, and although her swelling lasted longer, now, a little under 2 years later, hers looks much prettier.
