6 Months After Lateral Canthoplasty, Lower Canthoplasty, and Revision Buried-Suture Surgery

This post was written for the public interest. It has been 6 months since I had lateral canthoplasty, lower canthoplasty, and revision buried-suture surgery. I also went in for a consultation, but the director said everything turned out well with no problems, haha, so I said I would post a review, and I’m posting it now. For reference) Age: mid-20s First, the canthoplasty was done asymmetrically, so my eye lengths are different and the heights of my outer eye corners are different. Also, after surgery I developed severe dry eyes (during the consultation they said there would be no dryness or functional issues, so I chose this hospital). Functionally, I now suffer from glare and double vision (letters or objects appearing doubled), light streaking, and light scattering. I went to university hospitals and even dry-eye specialists, saying I wanted to treat the dry eye, and had machine tests done, but they said it wasn’t a problem with the meibomian glands or oil glands, and that the canthoplasty was the cause. The test costs are no joke, and this has been such an ordeal.. I put in artificial tears every day and run a humidifier. Before surgery, I had never had to manage my eyes like this. Even so, if I had become prettier aesthetically, maybe I could endure it. But as I said earlier, the heights and horizontal lengths are clearly different, and when I smile or frown, the fixed area sinks in deeply and wrinkles form. I really want to die. I live unable to even smile.

Next, regarding the revision buried-suture surgery: my left eye had come undone, so I had both eyes redone with the buried-suture method. But because they tied it too deeply, my eyelashes are lifted upward, and the left eye is worse, so the eyelash angles of both eyes are asymmetrical. On top of that, because the canthoplasty was done asymmetrically, the outer corner of my right eye droops more and was only opened a little, so even the double-eyelid lines are asymmetrical. Since one eye had come undone, I got revision surgery and canthoplasty together, but I truly regret it. Now both eyes have become completely uneven, and when I smile or frown, there is depression and wrinkling at the fixed areas, and functionally I have dryness all day, glare, light streaking, double vision........ Everyone, please don’t take plastic surgery lightly. Think carefully before doing it. If functional problems happen like they did to me, you really don’t want to live, and you can’t do anything. No one takes responsibility for you. I hope you research carefully, understand that these kinds of things can happen, and then decide on surgery.
