I had surgery because I wasn’t happy with my face shape.
Especially my cheekbones...
I had a consultation once 8 years ago, so I didn’t hesitate
and just had the consultation and decided on surgery right away.
I asked for the earliest possible date and the first surgery slot in the morning...
Since I live outside Seoul, I woke up before dawn, took the train, and arrived by 8,
changed clothes, met the doctor, had markings drawn on my face, and went into the operating room.
I went alone without a guardian, and I don’t know why I was so nervousㅠㅠ
When I said I was shaking and scared, the nurse held my hand tightly.
The anesthesiologist came and said they were going to start anesthesia, and then the smell of the medication suddenly came up,
and I passed out. When I opened my eyes, I was being moved to the hospital room, and I felt so cold.
I was shivering, so the nurse covered me
with a warmed blanket. It felt warm, and I think the anesthesia slowly started wearing off.
Once I came to a bit, I asked the nurse for my phone and took photos first.
I had to check what my face looked like firstㅎㅎ
Day 1.
It was so, so hard. My mind was hazy, but the pain was there with me.
I wondered if I shouldn’t have done it and thought I should’ve just lived as I wasㅎㅎ
I asked them to give me painkillers every 4 hours, and I got them, but the painkillers
had no effect. I just waited in pain for time to pass,
and since they said I could drink water, I drank water like crazy.
They said it was good to walk often, so all night I kept getting water from the purifier and drinking it,
and I think I held out until dawn. The day felt extremely long...
All I can say is that it was so hardㅠㅠ
The next day.
Before being discharged, I took a facial X-ray, and because I had booked a train since I live outside Seoul,
I hurriedly took the subway, then the train, and arrived home. I thought about taking a taxi,
but I remembered they told me to walk, so I decided to just walk. Compared to the first day, it hurt much
less. It would be a lie to say it didn’t hurt, but since the first day was a nightmare,
this level of pain felt manageable... As soon as I arrived, I started with ice packs,
and I didn’t feel hungry either. I had made pumpkin porridge almost like thin rice gruel, so I ate that,
took my medicine, and tried to sleep, but sleeping while sitting up was no ordinary challengeㅠ
I feel like I couldn’t sleep for a week. I’d sleep for an hour or two and wake upㅠ
The pain was secondary... I need to sleep deeply for the swelling to go down, but I can’t sleep...
It’s hard... The swelling was a little?
I think the swelling was the worst on the third dayㅠㅠ
I think the fourth day was also when it was the most swollen.
The pain gradually decreased, so I could manage, but the swelling....
It made me wonder if I had surgery just to see this face...
I looked so much like a pumpkin. To the point that I didn’t want to look in the mirrorㅎㅎ
They said walking was good, so from the fourth day, I think I walked for about an hour.
From the fifth day, I started to see the swelling gradually going down.
After walking, drinking pumpkin juice, and doing warm compresses, I think the remaining swelling
is like in the photo now. On day 15, I went to have the intraoral stitches removed,
and wow~ it hurt so much. It felt like injection needles were poking the inside of my mouth...
My hands and back were soaked with sweatㅠㅠ After they removed everything, still, it felt refreshing?
Because of the stitches, eating was difficult, opening my mouth was difficult, and the stitches near my lower teeth
kept pulling, so my gums hurt so much.. After stitch removal,
I received swelling care, and the staff member said a lot of the swelling had gone downㅎ
I think mine went down a bit faster than others. To celebrate getting the stitches removed, dinner was
beefㅎㅎ Since chewing was uncomfortable, I chewed two or three times, then swallowed and ateㅠ
It had been so long since I had meat, so it was really, really deliciousㅎㅎ
Now it has been 4 weeks and 3 days.
There is still swelling in my left cheekbone and lower jawline.
Only one cheekbone isn’t going down wellㅠㅠ
They said it will get better with time, so I’ll have to wait.
I asked why the area with the preauricular incision was protruding,
and they said it was swelling along with scar tissue, but why does it feel like bone to me...
They said this takes a long time to go down.
Has anyone else had the preauricular incision area protrude like me?
How long does it usually take for the swelling to go downㅠㅠ
