During surgery, you briefly fall asleep, then the nose area is locally anesthetized by injection, and your consciousness gradually wakes up, so you can think of it as receiving surgery almost fully awake. So during surgery, you can hear the sounds and everything, which is a little psychologically scary, but you don’t have to worry at all about things like the doctor being switched or a shadow doctor.
