Eye Surgery Considerations@eye-think

The Swan Review

It was already years ago, but I still remember it. I was desperate not to fail my biggest complex, lowering the outer corner of my eye, so after extensive searching I visited for a consultation. The review photos looked very good, so I went for a consultation, but the consultation wasn’t all that systematic. Still, I don’t know what got into me at the time, but I got tempted by the review photos and made a reservation, and even had the surgery. After surgery, when it had been less than a week before suture removal, I really liked how the outer corner of my eye looked. It had come down well to the degree I wanted, and there were no problems, so I took photos and even left a glowing review on the hospital website. Then a few days later, when I visited to get the stitches removed, one side had risen a bit unevenly again, and I wanted to ask why while they were removing the stitches, so I asked. But I was out of sight/out of mind, and they looked at another patient who had arrived later than me first, so I felt bad. After waiting a long time, they came to me and examined my eyes for stitch removal and started cutting, and when I asked about the side that had risen, they deflected with a tone suggesting it was my fault, as if I must have done something irritating. I was the one who never wanted reoperation again, and I had been so careful, so hearing that made me upset. Then, after they finished removing the stitches, the back conjunctiva on one eye had lifted, so it was a little raised and floppy, and when I asked why that was, they told me to wait. I was terrified and scared that it had failed again, and in the end they said they would bring it down again a few days later. I lay back on the operating table and had a reoperation, and usually local anesthesia hurts so they do a short sedation first, but they didn’t even do that, so the anesthesia hurt terribly, and above all the surgeon’s attitude during the operation was really awful. Because of the reoperation, the recovery period became two weeks longer than planned, and despite the reoperation, one outer corner of my eye rose up again. And the well-known D-shaped side effect also appeared.... On the day I went to check the progress, I witnessed another shocking scene. Maybe there were already quite a few patients like me who had problems after surgery, because while some woman was consulting with the doctor, they started arguing, and it was absolute chaos. In situations like that, the doctor should explain things in a way the patient can easily understand, but instead they avoided the issue and raised their voices, so the patient looked angry too. I thought there was no point saying anything more there and that I’d only stress myself out, so I just left. Even now I’m just living with it as uneven. I need to delete the glowing review I wrote back then, but I still haven’t been able to, and it annoys me.
