I had been 고민ing over double eyelid surgery for years and finally made up my mind, so I went ahead and got it done. Even though many people around me said not to get double eyelid surgery and that my monolid was attractive, I had not been paying much attention to my appearance. But when I started working in computer-related jobs, one downside of having a monolid was that the heavy skin over my eyes made me unconsciously use my forehead muscles to lift them. As time passed, the stress kept building, and looking back then, I felt so envious of people with double eyelids because they could move their eyes more comfortably and probably had a relatively wider field of vision. My eyes were narrow in length, did not even have an inner double fold, and the upper eyelids protruded like a frog, so they were almost like a classic East Asian monolid. I had never had this kind of cosmetic surgery before, so it was a big decision for me. haha
Of course, I consulted with several plastic surgery clinics (about seven places?), and the reason I chose The Swan among them was that the consultation felt more professional. They looked closely at my eyes, measured them with tools, and seemed to observe various possible designs. At first I had been wondering whether I could keep my monolid without creating an eyeliner line and still get eye-opening correction or widening, but across all the clinics I visited, they said creating it without an eyeliner line was impossible, and that the shape and length of the eyes are part of appearance design, so I understood. Of course, they showed me many before-and-after surgery cases, and 8 out of 10 of them made me instantly want that dramatic transformation in the direction I wanted.
If I had to point out a downside of The Swan, there were times when waiting for the consultation schedule tested my patience, so I felt the consultation service itself was a little disappointing.
Still, after a long consultation where they really paid attention to my eyes, The Swan suggested a direction of 'buried incision treatment' that could remove the heaviness in my eyes without using my forehead muscles, 'ponytail lifting' that could enhance the unique charm of a monolid, and 'front angle transition' that could allow for more detailed design. The ponytail lifting design, which adds charm in a way that feels like pulling the impression of a person's forehead upward, was exactly what I wanted. Most plastic surgery clinics only perform the standard double-eyelid surgery that is common among Korean women, but if I had gone ahead with that kind of surgery, I would have ended up with sausage eyes. (To be honest, I really like individuality, so I did not like the typical pure-looking eyes.)
But the part I worried about most was still the price..ㅠ For a student like me, it was an enormous amount of money... so I asked for some time to decide about the surgery schedule. Actually, I had consulted The Swan about three years earlier based on the same standard, but I had given up on surgery altogether because of the cost ㅋ ㅠㅠ But that was in the past, and this time I had saved money, so I thought, whatever, let's just go and see, and booked the surgery.^^ I chose buried sutures and ponytail lifting, excluding the front angle transition.
After the surgery, I managed my recovery very strictly at first. I drank about two pumpkin juices a day, took pills, and applied medicine, and that helped me recover quickly. The surprising thing was that if you only looked at my eyes, it seemed like there was a huge difference after surgery, but people around me said that when they looked at my whole face, it just seemed like my original face and felt natural. I am satisfied.
I am so curious what I will look like now and after about six months haha
