In the before-and-after photos, the first one is before surgery, but at some point the silicone at the tip of my nose started to show through. The tip was sunken.. I used it well for 8 years after the first surgery, but complications come without warning and really make life hard. At some point I took an elevator, looked in the mirror, and because of the lighting the silicone showed so clearly. That was the first time I clutched my heart and got off the elevator.
Anyway, I decided to get a revision and spent a ton of time visiting clinics before choosing one, so I took leave from work and now it's day 6 since surgery. The hospital took off the splint on Saturday. At first, after the splint came off, I couldn't really see my own line, and even when I tried to look, the angle was distorted, so I thought it had gone badly and panicked. I felt like collapsing and crying. On top of that, the skin on the bridge of my nose had risen a bit to match the old silicone shape, so the shape looked even stranger The director taped it over the tape and told me to keep it on for a while and press it down. Still, somehow the misunderstanding kept lingering, and I was in the mindset that everything in the world had fallen apart, but later, when I saw the photos they took for me, the misunderstanding cleared up, so I'm relieved.. I should go thank the director when I go next week to get the ear cartilage stitches removed. I felt so sorry today Honestly, my wish is to use it well for about the next 20 years, then get my last surgery around my 40s or 50s. If I could be greedy, as long as there are no major problems, I'd like to use it for life
What I learned through my first surgery and revision is that for the nose, it's really best not to overdo it, not to push beyond what your body can handle, and to correct it naturally without making the shape change too drastic. Of course, not having surgery at all is the very best... I still have swelling in the cheeks around my nose, and my nose feels tight. They said it's because the scar tissue was removed and the skin became thinner. Ah, the tip of my nose was red too, but when I looked again this evening after the splint came off today, it had disappeared. Sigh... I really lived for a week with only a mirror attached to me...huff... I hope it heals well like this.
