The hollowing and depression under my eyes were quite severe for my age, so they had always stressed me out a little. Even after sleeping well, the diagonal groove below the inner corners remained, making the area look sunken like dark circles, and nothing helped no matter how much concealer or makeup I used. Maybe it was because I naturally had hollowing. Since makeup could no longer improve it, I first wondered whether I needed lower-eyelid fat repositioning, but an acquaintance introduced me to [Clinic A], where I consulted with [Doctor A].
Unlike cases requiring repositioning of bulging under-eye fat, mine was a deeply sunken type, so I was recommended lower blepharoplasty and a midface lift. At first I was surprised because I thought only older people had lower blepharoplasty, but they explained that if only the fat were repositioned, loose skin could remain as wrinkles and make me look older, so the procedure was recommended.
I had worried that my outer corners might rise too much and look fierce, like someone I knew who had lower blepharoplasty before. [Doctor A] reassured me by showing examples and explaining that the amount of excision would be determined based on the thinness of my under-eye skin and the downward pulling force. While I was there, I also discussed my concern that my jawline looked heavy and decided to have double-chin muscle tightening as well.
It has now been one month. I do not have the fierce-looking eyes I worried about, and the midface lift also gave my anterior cheekbones more volume, making me look noticeably younger. People around me have said my overall impression looks brighter, haha. Tightening and firmly fixing the platysma also made my jawline more defined. Apart from wearing the compression band and being a little careful not to bend my head down during the instructed period, I did not need any special care and could live normally. Even with some swelling remaining at one month, the before-and-after change is clearly visible, so I’m satisfied.
