Hehehehehe it has been almost 12 months, 1 year, since I had functional rhinoplasty and cosmetic rhinoplasty together~! For reference, I did not use autologous costal cartilage or donated costal cartilage~ The doctor told me my nose had enough septal cartilage and ear cartilage to use, so I only used septal cartilage and ear cartilage~
Before surgery, shape-wise, my nose honestly was not extremely odd-looking or problematic, it was small.. a low nose? That kind of feeling. But I thought the functional part was something that could be improved with surgery, so I decided to get rhinoplasty 1 year ago, looked into it, chose a hospital, and had the surgery~
It was a place with ENT collaboration, and above all, even the rhinoplasty doctors were divided into cosmetic nose and functional nose, so I felt I could trust them.. Since it was a place that collaborates with ENT, private insurance reimbursement was naturally possible~ The hospital pretty much took care of almost everything needed for insurance~
It was convenient because they printed out almost all the lists for me, to the point that I did not even need to ask my insurance planner separately~
As for the shape and function, honestly they are much better after surgery now, so I am living with overall satisfaction haha
Today I thought I would organize even a little bit of the hard and uncomfortable parts of getting nose surgery~
1. After nose surgery, it takes about 2 weeks? until stitch removal, and for those 2 weeks my nose was really blocked, so it was a bit hard But I already had some rhinitis... so I switched to breathing through my mouth pretty quickly and adapted~
2. The nasal tip gets so itchy lol. I was really nervous that something might go wrong if I touched it, so I relieved it by very gently scratching with a cotton swab...
3. They tell you to keep applying ophthalmic ointment to the nasal tip and inside the nose, but as you apply it.. you get some tiny pimples around the mouth and philtrum ㅠㅜ lol But once I stopped applying it, they disappeared quickly~
4. Nose sebum... dead skin.. comes up like crazy lol;; I managed it by lightly wiping it with toner, then after 1 month I went to a dermatology clinic and got soft peeling? care that would not irritate the nose~
5. The ear is surprisingly uncomfortable~ It cannot be helped that you cannot lie on your side lol, but in the beginning my ear got pressed and hurt ㅠ so I did wake up a bit while sleeping~ But it got okay as time passed~
6. Once they remove the silicone sheet? inside the nose, breathing through the nose gets better~ But not perfectly~ because the nose keeps swelling and settling repeatedly, it differs each time~ anyway, the blocked-nose symptoms became much better than before surgery~
7. Nasal irrigation... seriously lol you have to do this diligently lol. The doctor who did my surgery said that if you do nasal irrigation well, the surgical effect doubles, so I am using it steadily at home~ After going through a change of seasons, nasal irrigation really is essential lol
For reference, for the surgery, I had the nasal bridge and nasal tip raised, and also had osteotomy, bulbous nose correction, hump nose correction, columella lowering, plus rhinitis and deviated septum surgery~
