Orthodontics: a simple 1.5-year review

There were no external bite or protruding-mouth issues at all, I just went to a neighborhood dental clinic, and the dentist recommended orthodontic treatment, so I thought there was no harm in doing it, but it was bad enough to rank in my top 3 lifetime regrets.

My cheeks got thinner, nasolabial folds deepened, cavities developed easily, my jaw joint felt stiff, and even after the braces came off, I still have to brush carefully, and my tongue keeps getting caught in the gaps of the retainer, which hurts.

Of course, after it was over, I ended up with beautiful teeth alignment and my facial line came back to a certain extent, so I am very satisfied with the result, but compared with what I gained, the emotional stress over nearly 2 years was terrible. Some side effects are still left as well.

Unless it is truly necessary, I do not think orthodontics is a procedure to do lightly.
