Before <photo taken before surgery> After <current photo after surgery> As the title says, I had revision surgery. About 7 years ago, I had silicone once, and as time passed it gradually shifted to one side ㅠ So the outline started showing at the tip of my nose and along one side of the bridge, and I was constantly stressed, so I was just going to have it removed. Addendum) You can see it in the photos, but because it had shifted to one side, one side view looked okay, yet from the other side the tip of my nose looked like it was dropping like that..
But when I actually tried to have it removed, I felt a bit regretful too, and I didn’t want to go back to a state where there was nothing at all.. Still, I really, absolutely was never going to use an implant again. The place where I had my first surgery was a clinic that only did implants, so even when I went back, they only said, let’s just do surgery again, so I left ㅠ So I kept thinking and looking into whether I should get filler or if there was anything else, and after reading posts saying it could be done by taking my own dermis, I searched and went to a clinic called ㅂㄴ in Apgujeong for a consultation.
Honestly, I had surgery a long time ago, and I don’t really know how much implant-based surgery costs now, but because it was revision surgery and included harvesting dermal tissue, I felt it was a little expensive ㅠ Still, the doctor took a long consultation with me and explained a lot of things, so I decided to do it and went ahead with surgery. When I thought about it, if I put in an implant, I’d probably need surgery again after a few years, and then when you really add it up, that would end up costing more and being worse for my body..
Fortunately, there was no contracture or anything like that, so I felt relatively reassured, but surgery is surgery, so I had a vague anxiety about it. Once the surgery started and I was anesthetized, I didn’t really think about anything lol But because of the time spent harvesting the dermis and shaping it, the total surgery time was pretty long, about 6 hours..? Other than feeling a little restless because of that, there was absolutely no pain.
The swelling wasn’t extremely severe, and aside from my butt, where the dermis was harvested, hurting a bit for a few days, I’m now just under 4 months out and doing well without any problems. Ah, since the surgery was done with an incision in the columella, that was a bit uncomfortable until it healed too.
I didn’t know this well, but that dermis is eventually absorbed, and the amount absorbed differs from person to person, so they said they put in quite a lot at first. So after surgery my nose was really huge, and I laughed a lot looking in the mirror, but now it has gone down a lot. Still, I think it needs to be absorbed a bit more ㅠ I heard that depending on the person, some people keep absorbing it for up to 2 years, so I think I’ll have to keep watching it until then.
After removing the silicone, I realized it hadn’t been high after all. To be honest, when I had my first surgery, I didn’t even hear anyone say they’d raise it by a few millimeters; I just said, please do a good job.. and got it done.
But once it was taken out, it wasn’t high, yet I liked that degree of height, so I didn’t want to raise it a lot. So when they removed it and put in the dermis, I said I didn’t want it to be too high, and they didn’t make it to the maximum. But even so, it’s still high lol If time passes, it’ll lower, so I’m not worrying too much.
It wasn’t like there was contracture or anything, so I felt relatively less stressed, but still, after it was done, I felt relieved. Even when I touch it, I don’t feel any implant, and if all of it gets absorbed, well, I’ll just think that was my fate. There won’t be inflammation or contracture, so my mind is at ease. Even if it all gets absorbed and my nose returns to how it originally was, I did this thinking it would be the last nose surgery of my life, so I’m not going to regret it.. lol..
The shape isn’t sharp or anything like that, so I think preferences will vary, but I personally feel a very pointed, sharp shape is a bit too much, so I like it. Right now it’s still a little high because it hasn’t been fully absorbed, but since it’s my own tissue, it also feels soft, and I like that there’s no implant outline. That visible outline was what bothered me the most ㅠㅠ..
After my first surgery, I felt like it was slightly shifted to one side, so when I mentioned it, they corrected it right away, which I really appreciated ㅠ
I also wrote this in a somewhat rambling way, and since I didn’t originally study nose surgery that deeply before getting it done, I’m not sure this post will be that helpful for people who are still 고민해보고 계신 분들, but I hope it can at least be a reference when you compare and make your decision..!
