Based on the CT scan results, the director explained my nose in an easy-to-understand way. At first, I said I absolutely wanted it natural, and the director acknowledged that but also persuaded? me. They showed me several before-and-after photos of previous surgeries and said that if someone asks for it to be natural and it is done really naturally, they can eventually feel disappointed and dissatisfied and may even have revision surgery. In other words, they suggested making it a little more defined and higher than what I wanted, and I understood that too~!
And out of nowhere, they also recommended full-face fat grafting. But since my face is quite flat and plain in some areas, I think it was reasonable enough to recommend it. They did not pressure me, and I was tempted too, but my original purpose was rhinoplasty, so I do not plan to do fat grafting.
But since it is my first surgery and they suggested autologous costal cartilage, there were parts of the explanation I did not understand, so after coming home I had some questions. They said I could not speak directly with the director, so I had a phone consultation with the consultant. They kindly explained that because of things like previous trauma, my nasal cartilage is already difficult to use, and because my hump is severe and they want to do it properly from the beginning, the director suggested using autologous costal cartilage. They said that if another hospital suggests using nasal or ear cartilage, I should ask whether aftercare is available if it collapses or becomes deformed, and that their hospital provides lifetime aftercare.
The director is a plastic surgeon specializing in noses + also knows a lot about otolaryngology, so they have a lot of pride, and they also explain things kindly and well.
