At first glance, it seems they perform surgery in a very, very natural direction. Most of the patients here seemed to be revision cases, and the next most common seemed to be functional nose surgery. There seemed to be fewer patients getting surgery purely for cosmetic purposes. Maybe that’s because the doctor is an ENT specialist.
The advantages are: 1. Extremely natural-looking (both the tip of the nose and the columella have rounded lines. It seems like they operate in a way that preserves 80% of your original nose shape while improving the flaws. Honestly, I have a pretty sharp eye, and there were quite a few cases where, if I didn’t see the before photo, I would’ve thought, “This nose was probably always like that.”)
2. Some insurance reimbursement is possible (since the doctor is an ENT specialist, if you have things like a deviated septum or rhinitis and do those procedures together, you can get some reimbursement.. usually most people have those anyway)
3. This is the really big advantage and the reason I’d consider getting it done here: there is a 3-year aftercare/warranty. This was a revision surgery for me, so I might need another revision someday, and that mattered a lot to me. If you pay 300,000 to 500,000 won for anesthesia, you can get another revision within 3 years.
4. The surgery is recorded by CCTV, so a guardian can watch during the operation. (No risk of ghost doctor-style proxy surgery.)
5. This hospital only does noses. Personally, doctors who focus on just one thing feel more specialized to me. Maybe that’s because I ended up needing revision surgery after being treated by doctors who do many things. There are many doctors who do a lot of procedures, but in the end, everyone still has their own specialty..
6. They specialize in revision surgery. I feel revision surgery is much more difficult, so it gave me confidence that this place specializes in it. Especially contracture noses are supposed to be really hard, but they seem to do a lot of those.
7. They have a large number of patients. They said they’ve done nearly 10,000 costal cartilage surgeries.. I think having a lot of cases is something you absolutely can’t ignore.
8. They do costal cartilage surgery. Elsewhere, there are so many places that recommend ear cartilage surgery or silicone implants.. even for revisions.. I wanted a no-implant option and costal cartilage (I’m speaking from experience that implants and ear cartilage can lead to a lot of side effects and changes in nose shapeㅠ) so I looked for a hospital that specializes in that kind of surgery. It seemed like they do a lot of those surgeries here, and since they recommended costal cartilage, I decided on this place.
(Other revision-nose hospitals mostly recommended silicone replacement or only ear cartilage.. but I was only considering costal cartilage from the start..) On the other hand, if you’re going with silicone or ear cartilage, that’s much easier and cheaper than costal cartilage.. I’d recommend getting a consultation first, since there are noses where that’s enough..
Disadvantages
1. The doctor seems to have a very fixed image of what a pretty nose should look like. (For me, a natural nose was my top priority, so that was a big advantage, but if you want a glamorous nose, that could be a disadvantage.) It felt like the doctor already had a roadmap in mind for how to improve this nose, and depending on the patient, that could be either a strength or a weakness. If it matches, it’s an advantage; if not, it’s a disadvantage. I think it’s best to come for a consultation, see the surgical cases directly, and decide.
If you look at the nose-line photos in the reviews, most of them seem to clearly prefer a semi-straight line when viewed from the side, with the bridge not very high and the tip raised upward. If you say, “Please make it pretty as you see fit,” you’ll 100% end up with that kind of nose. If you want a higher bridge or a straight nose, you need to make that very clear during the consultation. They also make the line under the tip and columella very rounded, so if you dislike that, I’d recommend another clinic. I personally liked it because it looked natural.
If you want a glamorous nose line and are 100% focused on aesthetics, get consultations elsewhere too. If you want a nose that looks like you were reborn and completely different, this place may not suit you. If you want to keep some of your original nose shape while improving the flaws naturally, it should be fine. Once you get a consultation, you’ll get the feel for it. The doctor shows a ton of photos.
Other points
I didn’t feel any sense that they were recommending unnecessary surgery. They said they would do osteotomy if needed, but since my septum was severely deviated, there was no choice, and they absolutely did not push for an unnecessary osteotomy. From this, it doesn’t seem like they use a system where extra procedures mean extra charges. The price just varies depending on whether it’s costal cartilage surgery or ear cartilage surgery.. Even if they add procedures like osteotomy or septoplasty, it doesn’t seem like they make more money from that (I saw other reviews saying the price can go up by 100,000 to several hundred thousand won, so maybe more complex cases do cost extra..?) In any case, they seem to recommend only what they think is necessary.
Same with alar reduction surgery.. I went expecting they’d reduce my nostrils because I thought they were wide, but they surprisingly told me not to reduce them.. So if the doctor tells you to reduce your nostrils, I really recommend doing it haha that means your nostrils are genuinely big.. haha Anyway, overall I was satisfied, and I liked the consultation results too.
When you visit, they show you a lot of photos, and especially the columella and side profile seem to come out similarly. Since you can decide after seeing the photos, I recommend a consultation, especially for revision-surgery patients who care about stability. For people who have rhinitis or a deviated septum and also hope to improve the nose shape with that opportunity, functional nose surgery could be good too. In that case, since the doctor is an ENT specialist, being able to claim insurance reimbursement is a major advantage. I recommend at least getting a consultation.
Oh, and for reference, there are no ads or discounts at all. There’s only a same-day booking discount. Roughly 10%? Honestly, I thought even if it was expensive and there were no discounts, I’d trust that more than places that run tons of ads and sell it cheap through promotions or bundles. But I guess it depends on the person. It’s on the expensive side compared to other places, so keep that in mind!
