Really lol I don’t know what nerve I had to do it here. I’m just leaving this partly for nostalgia and partly to raise awareness.
I had double eyelid surgery in December 2019. Back then, my judgment was lacking, so I had already made up my mind with the complacent thought that having surgery at the biggest hospital among the places I visited would be safe, right(?). As expected for peak season, I think I waited about an hour? I couldn’t meet the director; during peak season they were busy, so only consultation with the consultant manager was possible,,, If it were now, I’d immediately pass, but back then I don’t know what nerve I had, I made a same-day reservation right away. For a factory-style hospital, the staff were very kind. I visited with my mom, and since we had waited a long time, they gave me Botox as a service, good.
But on the day of surgery, the director was strange. During surgery, he told me that I was the last-time-slot patient, and by instinct it felt like he was criticizing me, because he kept sighing heavily. It was scary,,, I felt bad Still, my friend who had double eyelid surgery somewhere else in Seomyeon said her surgery was about to start, and she could hear the director keep whining to the nurse that he was sick of jajangmyeon for lunch and wanted to eat something else, so I guess this was better than that.
And the anesthesia didn’t take properly either, so I got injections into my fully awake eye Of course, that was my fault for coming without having measured my weight.
When I went for follow-up, the director was normal again; on the sofa by the door, the director’s works(?) including me were sitting in a row, and for each person he looked for about a minute or less, said it turned out well, and that was it.
Looking back, it was the worst first surgery, but considering that, it still hasn’t loosened and is holding up well. What’s disappointing is that if I really tense my eyes, it becomes an inline crease, and if I relax, it becomes an in-out line, but the line on my left eye seems to have faded a lot. At the earliest, I think I’ll need revision surgery in 5 years… But the fact that sedation anesthesia didn’t work well was traumatic, so I’m conflicted. I never want to receive local anesthesia while fully conscious again.
Now it seems the director has opened a private clinic in Seoul.
If it’s your first surgery, I think it’s right to spend more money and do it at a private clinic. It feels like they pay careful attention to each little thing,,, Even if you go to a large hospital, I hope you go somewhere where the director does the consultation. Definitely.
