I did not have double eyelids when I was young, but they appeared naturally as I got older. My eyes were uneven, and one eyelid crease often disappeared, so I had been deliberating over it and finally had surgery! Since I was already lying on the operating table, I also had under-eye fat repositioning lol.
My criteria were: convenient transportation, a one-doctor system, a price within my budget, and a clean building and system. I visited several clinics near Gangnam Station. At first I thought I would choose a place if I liked the consultation even if the staff were not friendly, but meeting unfriendly staff and doctors made me feel bad, so I could not choose them haha.
After visiting several places, I could get a feeling as soon as I entered the lobby. I decided on [Clinic A], about a 2–3 minute walk from Gangnam Station.
My concerns were uneven eyes, drooping upper-eyelid skin, hollow-looking under-eyes, and eyes that looked cramped because they were not horizontally long. The director’s consultation style was excellent. Other places told me I should do everything I wanted, but here he clearly explained which procedures were unnecessary using my photos and comparison photos. When people recommend one thing after another, it feels like sales, but there was none of that here. Under-eye fat repositioning was not actually necessary yet, but I insisted on having it done lol T_T
I had a little upper-eyelid skin removed through an incision to reduce the heaviness of my lids, and the incision thickness was adjusted to balance my uneven eyes. I was told my eyes would look open enough without canthoplasty, so I excluded it.
The post-operative pain was almost zero, which surprised me. I should have done it sooner haha. Despite the incision and upper canthoplasty, the swelling went down quickly. I did have a slight yellow bruise from the under-eye procedure, but it did not significantly interfere with daily life.
Personally, I liked that the design turned out as I had imagined. The double eyelids look so natural, and everyone says they turned out well, which makes me even happier lol. I no longer have to check every day whether one crease has disappeared or put on double-eyelid tape, so I am happy >.<
