6/22 Right after surgery
I think I could handle the surgery itself even if they told me to do it twice, because it didn’t hurt at all, but I absolutely couldn’t go through the pre-surgery process again. The shaving, disinfecting my nose several times, seriously when they were disinfecting it was the first time I regretted it and wanted to go home... Face disinfection was annoying too. I teared up so much during the disinfection, but from after the anesthesia it was okay. I woke up from anesthesia during surgery and said, Am I really anesthetized..? It hurts... and they said they’d give me more. But I woke up again in the middle and had the surgery while talking in a half-asleep state. They said why do you have so many questionsㅋㅋ It didn’t hurt much, but when they put the cotton in after surgery, I cried again. I really can never do this again, seriously... Right after surgery I walked to the recovery room totally fine and thought I’d be able to drink water right away, but they wouldn’t let me, so I was so upset... I came out and ate, but everything got on the gauze and I couldn’t even taste the galbitang, so I left it all. On the taxi ride home there were so many speed bumps that maybe it irritated my nose, because blood kept dripping out... I want to breathe through my nose, please. Sleeping sitting up is annoying too
6/23 Everyone in the world breathes through two nostrils, so why can’t I breathe through my nose... Being able to breathe through your nose seems like a blessing. Mouth breathing is seriously the worst. My mouth keeps drying out, but I can’t drink water properly, brush my teeth properly, wash my face properly, or shower. It’s my first time ever brushing my teeth and rinsing my mouth with a straw! People who repeat this kind of thing multiple times are seriously amazing. And maybe the anesthesia wore off, because yesterday was okay, but today my head felt so heavy and dazed that I got through it with Tylenol. I tried to sleep sitting up, but I think I’ll just lie down with my pillow high... Other than breathing, I can’t do anything. I kept sitting, and it feels like my butt is going to get flattened. And my face swelled up! The inner corners of my eyes are also deeply bruised like someone who got hit somewhere hehe... I should’ve done the cold compress properly
6/24 Finally got the cotton removed!! People said it feels like your brain is being pulled out with it, so I was really worried, but it hurt about the same as putting it in... I teared up, and they said they had to pull each side out one more time, so I resented why nostrils have to be that long. Now I can breathe through my nose too, and I can taste things to some extent! Today, after removing the cotton, I felt alive, so I came home by bus and subway. Taxi or bus both take an hour, but taxi fare is so expensiveㅠㅠ I want to keep taking public transportation from now on too, but it does feel like people’s eyes are on me, so it’s a little embarrassing. My facial swelling peaks more and more as night comes. My philtrum is swollen too, so it kind of feels like an ostrich egg, but being able to breathe through my nose makes me so happy that I don’t really care about that. But the bruising at the inner corners of my eyes got darker, so I look like someone with semi-permanent eyeliner. I asked when the bruises would go away, and they said because the color is dark, it’ll take about 2 weeks hehe..
