I’ve gone to many clinics for facial contouring consultations, but this was the first doctor who pressed and examined my face so much that it practically got squashed. Of course they also did a CT scan, but they literally kneaded my face like clay to see whether the issue was fat or bone and what the elasticity was like. (Usually, when I ask if the skin will sag after surgery, they either say it depends on the person, or only say it might sag because there is some fat. But here, the doctor actually touched the flesh directly to check elasticity and fat.) In the end, the conclusion was that I should not get facial contouring. The problem is more fat than bone, the elasticity isn’t that great, and the facial fat is somehow clumped together. They said that even if I get facial liposuction, it’s not the kind of fat that comes off easily. (They said I’d had about 10 rounds of contouring injections, and they even caught that the fat had become tangled together from adhesions.) They said my face shape is not the kind that would become prettier from contouring. If it were a face shape that would look better from contouring, they would do it, but if it isn’t, why do it? They also said I don’t really have prominent cheekbones. It’s fat, not bone. They explained it by comparing me to photos of people with cheekbones. (They also pressed the cheekbone area down completely to see whether it was fat or bone, and said even if I reduced the cheekbones, what’s the point if the skin sags afterward?) But other clinics said the same thing, and even from my own point of view I think I have 45-degree cheekbones, so it was a bit surprising that they said I don’t.. Then when I asked, “Do I need jaw surgery + contouring?” they said jaw surgery can shorten the face length, but if sagging happens then you end up doing a lift and lifting again in an endless loop. They asked if I was planning to keep having surgery over and over. (Actually, I thought a lift after contouring would be essential, but I liked that they were honest about the sagging afterward too.) They told me that I’m already attractive enough, that a long face can also be attractive, and that I should accept my own appearance. I still do worry about my long face, but this was a doctor who wasn’t just commercially trying to push me onto the operating table; they spoke sincerely while considering the post-op outcome too. At every other place I consulted, it was all soulless explanations and the feeling that they just wanted to rush me out after a quick consultation, but here, after paying 20,000 won for the consultation, they gave me a realistic assessment, so I didn’t feel like I wasted either time or money. If you want to know exactly what the problem with your face shape is, I recommend going here first (I wrote the cost arbitrarily because I never even heard the price)

When getting plastic surgery, there’s an amount that the consultants propose first, right? Is that exactly the amount you have to pay, the non-negotiable amount? If you negotiate and get it a bit cheaper, could there be a penalty? Like…
