(I’m writing this for the public interest.) I had rhinoplasty here 10 years ago, and after consulting with the doctor, we decided on silicone for the nasal bridge + ear cartilage for the nasal tip, then I had the surgery. I was young at the time and had the ridiculous idea that because the price was cheap and it was a large hospital, they would do a good job, so I went through with the surgery, and I regret it.
At the time, after the surgery ended and I woke up from anesthesia, even though during the consultation they had clearly said they would use ear cartilage, there was no bandage on my ear. When I asked what happened, I was told that when they opened the nose, there was enough septal cartilage, so they used septal cartilage. Huh...? That was how I felt, but then they said, “Isn’t it better because you don’t have to recover from your ear~?” so I just accepted it and went home. I didn’t like that my nasal tip was broad and spread out, but just... it did become somewhat higher than my original nose, so I lived with it.
And now, 10 years later, I wanted to revise only the nasal tip and also get a checkup on the rhinoplasty, so I went to another hospital and had a CT scan. What was inside my nose was “L-shaped silicone”... Anyone looking into rhinoplasty will know how risky L-shaped silicone is and how rarely it is used. The doctor here was even more flustered and said, “Didn’t they say they used septal cartilage with silicone? But there’s L-shaped silicone in here? I don’t even know where the septal cartilage is...” They said my nose becoming slightly short now could be due to inflammation inside and that it needs to be removed quickly...
I was dumbfounded and contacted Wonjin, and a manager called me. To summarize: “10 years ago, everyone originally used L-shaped silicone a lot~” -> No. Even when I looked into it 10 years ago, people said L-shaped silicone had a high risk of side effects and wasn’t used much; “Because 10 years have passed, the surgery information and operative records have all been deleted, and because the hospital’s ‘business registration name’ has changed, legally we have no obligation to do anything for you~” -> No, whether the business registration name changed or whatever, you are still operating to consumers as Wonjin Plastic Surgery... “(When I asked whether putting in L-shaped silicone contrary to the consultation itself wasn’t wrong) Then, customer, all the noses of people who had L-shaped silicone put in must be completely collapsed now~?” -> At that point I thought further conversation was useless and hung up.
Besides this, they said maybe the silicone they said they would use during the consultation could have been L-shaped silicone... When I asked, logically, if that were the case, why would they have said the nasal tip would be done with ear cartilage, they said cartilage can be put in the nasal tip even after inserting L-shaped silicone... There were many absurd answers.
They said that if I had revision surgery at the main clinic, they could “accommodate me” as much as possible regarding cost, but a full waiver of surgery fees or any other compensation would be absolutely impossible, and they said this as if they were doing me a favor... I have no intention of getting revision surgery here in the first place At the very least, morally, shouldn’t they compensate me for the cost of removing the L-shaped silicone they put in as they pleased...
Those of you who had rhinoplasty here should get checked once to see what is currently inside your nose, and those planning surgery should keep in mind that surgery may be performed with materials and methods different from what was discussed during consultation, and that if you contact them later, their attitude may be like that.
