* I haven’t had the splint removed yet, so I don’t have a review saying this or that about the shape. I think this would be good for people who are curious what it feels like in the early stage of nose surgery, especially on the day of surgery.
[ Day 1 ]
My eyesight is poor, so I wore contact lenses when I went (they said it was okay to wear lenses). Since disinfectant could get on me, I changed my top, sat on the operating table, and had photos taken. Up to this point, I wasn’t particularly nervous or anything.
When I lay down, the mat was warm. They disinfected my nose and trimmed my nose hairs first. But this was much more distressing than I expected;; It didn’t hurt, but it felt like the alcohol swab went through my nostril and touched my brain;; Then before the surgery properly started, they asked what singer I liked. They played that singer’s songs throughout the surgery. I went under sleep anesthesia while listening to IU’s voice. From here, I had a bit of a problem ㅜㅜ I’m really curious whether other people experienced this too... Should I say I stayed half-conscious the whole time? The song was echoing so much in my head (I could hear the lyrics clearly), and I felt like I was being pulled into strange patterns along with the sound of the song? It felt as if I was trapped, so it was really scary, and I could feel them touching different parts of my face (I didn’t feel pain, but I could feel things like one side being pulled or turned. When I thought, my skin must be cut open, blood and bone must be visible, and they must be putting injections in, I got even more scared). This is really hard to explain, but it felt similar to videos that come up if you search “drug experience” on YouTube. It really felt like I was on drugsㅜㅜ When I had double eyelid surgery, I briefly lost consciousness and came to in the middle of surgery, so I didn’t know, but this was really, really scary. When I had come to somewhat, they were harvesting cartilage from my ear. But I was so scared. I couldn’t calm down at all and was shaking like a leaf. I teared up too. The words “I don’t want to have surgery” came all the way up to my throat. Still, because I was trembling so much, the nurses kept holding my hand in between. This is something I heard near the end, but they said that because I couldn’t calm down, they briefly put me back to sleep about 4-5 times in between.
Thankfully, by the time they started on the nose, I had mostly calmed down, so I think the fear was largely because of those incomprehensible sensations at the beginning. Still, as it ended, the director told me it went well. I couldn’t see because of the splint, though..
After it was over, I returned to my accommodation (I live outside the area, so I had booked a place). Blood kept flowing, so I added tissues over it. My condition was better than I expected. But maybe because there was cotton inside my nose, I kept sneezing and felt anxious, though it didn’t seem to be a major issue. Of course, it’s better to be careful.
Also, I have a habit of sleeping turned onto my side ㅜㅜ so sleeping flat on my back was so uncomfortable.. And surprisingly, I could breathe through my noseㅜ, but because of the cotton it felt blocked, so I ended up breathing through my mouth more often.
+ During surgery, about 2-3 times, an embarrassing area? got insanely itchy. I found out the next day that people who react sensitively to antibiotics can get itchy there. Why there of all places..
[ Day 2 ]
On the first day, there was a lot of blood, but it stopped the next day. It stopped faster than I expected. They said if blood doesn’t come out, it can pool inside, so I actually wanted more to come out ㅜㅜ
I went in for a visit, and they removed the straw inserted in my ear to prevent blood from pooling. Then I got a swelling/antibiotic injection in my wrist. Wow, it got insanely itchy again, and I had a hard timeㅠㅠ
When I looked in the mirror, my eyes felt slightly drawn inward, and the tip of my nose sometimes tingled.
They say it’s good to sleep sitting up, but it was just too uncomfortable, so I just lay down..
[ Day 3 ]
My nose is slowly starting to itch and feel stuffy. I want to remove the splint quickly and see the line ㅜㅜ Originally, I was supposed to visit on day 4, but they said the clinic is closed that day. + Since my condition was quite good, they removed the gauze and cotton from my ear a little early. After the cotton was removed, it felt like the nose width that had looked broad became very slightly smaller.
When I looked in the mirror, maybe because of the waterproof tape and stitches, that side looked slightly like a monkey ear, unlike the other side. They said I could wash my hair and shower from today, so I did it as soon as I got back to my accommodation ㅎㅎ
It was much harder than I expected. I think I underestimated it because I’d lain on an operating table about 3 times for double eyelid surgery. It may also have been because the sleep anesthesia went strangely(?). I also slightly regretted whether I had taken it too lightly. But people adapt, so now I’m just doing okayㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ I want to take the splint off soon ㅜㅜ
