I found out why my nasal tip had felt hard for 10 years, and even though I really, really hate the operating table, I decided I should hurry up and get it done since I would have to do it someday anyway. The reason was that septal cartilage had been used as a support and also placed in the nasal tip. My nose was originally a hump nose, but they only did a little osteotomy, placed Gore-Tex above the glabella, and used my septal cartilage without saying a word.
The hospital probably had issues too, but... 10 years ago, I feel like they didn’t explain to patients beforehand that they were putting something in or taking something out the way they do now. I think it was also partly my fault for choosing a hospital without looking into it carefully enough..
So I thought about it and worried over it a lot, and went around to many consultations.. No matter what the facilities were like or what the price was, I set aside concerns about the hospital’s name value and chose mainly based on how I felt when consulting with the doctor. Actually, doctors who talked about everything too easily made me distrust them, because I had experienced someone like that during my first surgery. They said Gore-Tex removal is easy, it doesn’t swell, it heals in a week, this surgery is nothing. There were even doctors who just took photos and didn’t record my history or details, even though they had so many patients coming through and how were they going to remember everything? I wasn’t drawn to high-name-value or large hospitals. I didn’t like the volume-sales structure, and there wasn’t any doctor I liked either. Because I wanted a doctor who would look at my face and, according to my case, analyze it and make a judgment, not someone who treated patients like they were being churned out.
There must be hundreds of plastic surgery clinics in Gangnam, so I wondered if I could find one I liked, but after going around to consultations, the list narrowed down.
I liked that they looked closely at my nose, made a judgment, explained what the problems were and what could be improved, and clearly said that some things could only be known after opening it up. They wrote everything down one by one, examined it very delicately with their eyes, and I trusted their attitude of actively trying to understand the situation. There were also parts where they were blunt with the facts, but I liked that. In the end, sweet words often don’t get kept.. Like, “It’s easy,” “There’s no problem,” and so on.. The consultant also said I should do it only if I was sure, and I don’t think there was any talk at all like discounts, “if you do it today the price is this much,” or “you absolutely have to do it.” They weren’t extremely kind, but places that are overly kind actually make me less trusting.
In the end, I got on the operating table yesterday while trembling, and before surgery I wrote down all the questions I had, got all the answers, and finished the surgery. I was so scared that the sedation didn’t work well at first, and they said, “Please relax,” and then suddenly I woke up and said, “Was there any mistake??” and they said, “It’s over,” haha.
After surgery, they showed me photos and explained in detail while showing photos of my original nose, after removal, and cartilage repositioning. It was right after surgery, so in case I asked again while still under the medication, I filmed it, and when I watched it at home I understood it really well lol the memories I had forgotten came back one by one. They removed the small Gore-Tex from the glabella, removed the small septal cartilage that had been used as a support in the nasal tip, put another piece of septal cartilage back in its original place, and repositioned the cartilage. I’m satisfied because the doctor seems meticulous and detail-oriented. Just having it removed now already makes me feel relieved!! They said my previous surgery had been simple, but there was a lot of contracture. Anyway, they showed me photos of everything being removed and released, showed me the actual removed material too, and took photos showing how the previous surgery had been done, so I felt relieved..!! Right after surgery and even now, I don’t have pain, but right after surgery my left eye was so, so, so dry that I was really shocked. It felt like sand had gotten in.... They said it was because the operating room had gotten dry. I think there are a few people here who wrote posts about this, so I hope it gets better. The director prescribed eye ointment and I applied it, and it got a bit better, but my guardian said my eye was extremely bloodshot right after surgery ㅠㅠ It has gotten much better, but even now on day two it still hurts a little ㅠㅠ
Today I went for disinfection, and as expected, the director disinfected it very meticulously and took good care of me. Swelling laser and disinfection. They said I didn’t have much blood pooled, so there was no need to drain it. Right now my glabella is very swollen and a little blood is coming from my nose, and my eye still hurts slightly too ㅠㅠ but I hope it passes quickly.
