I recently had revision nose surgery at Dr. Jin.
At the silicone insertion site that had been there for almost 11 years, blood had pooled, so the blood was drained (you can confirm this if you look at my previous post.) After consulting at several places, I was told it was the early stage of an inflammatory reaction. Even if there was no visible pus, it should still be regarded as a slight inflammation. I was told that if I left it alone, contracture could occur, so... Since I happened to be taking time off work, I quickly had it reconstructed with costal cartilage.
I had seen so many bad reviews about Dr. Jin here, but on overseas sites most of the reviews were good, and I also thought nasal function was important, and I felt trust in him, so I chose Dr. Jin.
In conclusion, the shape improved compared with before, and my family says it looks much better too. It has not even been one month yet, and so far there is no warping phenomenon.
*I think the chance of warping is around 3-5%? If it happens, it is simple, but they either do a revision surgery, or in mild cases they scrape it out with a needle in the outpatient clinic.
There is a slightly bumpy area when touched, but they said I need to wait a bit longer for that~ Since it is cartilage, they said there may be a little absorption (within 10%).
The doctor’s personality is such that his facial expression feels a little scary, but I think he’s just naturally stern and only tells the facts~ He doesn’t seem like the type to say overly hopeful things But every now and then he’ll talk to you and smile slightly. And they don’t seem to make the kind of nose that Gangnam girls like, so if you want a very high and pointed nose, I think it would be right to look for another hospital. His philosophy seems to be a natural nose that harmonizes with the whole face. I also don’t like anything that looks obvious.
The person who handled consultations here was also an RN, so the care was professional. I have a somewhat unusual constitution, and there are medicines I can’t take, but the nurse knew all about that and prepared alternative medication, and when I asked about medicines, she explained professionally what each one was.
I’ve already had eye and nose plastic surgery before, so I know that when you go to a general plastic surgery clinic, one thing that feels untrustworthy is that the nurse’s aide or consultation manager seems to have almost no medical knowledge...; Even if it’s beauty-related work, if you work in a hospital, you should have professional knowledge, after all.
The anesthesia was general anesthesia, and an anesthesiologist is on site. Before anesthesia, they carefully checked for any issues while going through the medical questionnaire. I’ve also seen that, medically, general anesthesia is safer than sedation anesthesia. (With sedation, propofol can suppress breathing, so an anesthesiologist has to monitor it well, and if propofol is used without a separate anesthesiologist, it can be risky. With general anesthesia, the anesthesiologist controls even breathing.) But when you wake up after surgery, you have to accept nausea, breathing through your throat, and a sore throat~ I also really regretted it after waking up from surgery because I felt so nauseous. Another thing I liked is that if you post a question on the consultation board on Dr. Jin ENT’s website, there are many cases where the reply comes within about an hour? And if you send questions by email to the doctor, they answer well.
The price was also not as expensive as I expected. (Of course, what counts as expensive or not differs from person to person) When I went to Symi-an, they quoted over 1000, then said they would discount it if I decided to have surgery that very day, and I thought it felt a bit commercial. But Dr. Jin had fixed pricing. It was a little cheaper than I expected, but I’m worried about publicizing the exact amount here. I had a revision and a short nose, so I think that pushed the price up, and for a first surgery it might not be that high. Rather than Dr. Jin being extremely expensive, I think any surgery using costal cartilage is expensive.
I thought I’d never get silicone side effects. I thought even if they came, they would come 30 years later, but I got hit with it in the 11th year^_^ All my high school female classmates are still fine, and I’m the only one like this. The odds aren’t that high, but still, it seems like artificial implants always carry a risk of infection at any time. Getting surgery with an implant is each person’s choice, but if someone I know said they were going to do it, I think I’d take a lunchbox and try to stop them, after what I went through
