Review of Double-Eyelid Revision Consultations in Gwangju

1. [Clinic A] (consultation fee 10,000 won; director followed by coordinator). They took photos of my eyes with a camera and consulted while looking at them. The director did not physically examine my eyes directly. They showed before-and-after photos of another person as examples. They showed related photos and said that, compared with other places, their clinic has very little swelling after surgery. Since this would be revision surgery and I have medial canthoplasty scars, they said the crease would not come out 100% clean. The scars would be lighter than now but would not disappear completely. They described their method using a specific name unique to this clinic rather than a term such as double-line creation. After only this consultation, I thought the result would be polished, but after consulting another clinic, I started wondering whether the eye shape would suit me. I am deliberating. The price was unusually high. The clinic interior was distinctive, with many large picture frames. Seeing luxury bags placed in the consultation room made me wonder: did they earn a lot because they are skilled, or do they make money only by using the method they are good at rather than tailoring it to each person? 2. [Clinic B] (consultation fee 10,000 won; director followed by coordinator). The director measured and recorded my face with a ruler while consulting. Unlike the first clinic, they said the scars would remain about as visible as now after revision. They mentioned the medial canthoplasty scars again and said the front part of the crease might bend slightly. The director actually said I did not need surgery. Since there was no major problem now, they suggested considering combining a facelift and revision surgery later if the crease changed or became uncomfortable with age. They told me to think carefully about revision. When I was speaking with the coordinator, I asked to see before-and-after photos of another person's revision surgery, and they showed them to me. I got the impression they may not perform many revision surgeries, although that is just my personal impression and may not be factual. It seems it would look natural if I did it here, but the director did not give me the feeling of confidently saying, “I will make it look great for you!” I wonder whether there would be almost no difference before and after revision. If this had been my first surgery, I think this would have been a good choice. If I explain the crease I want, I feel I could discuss the surgical direction with the director. 3. [Clinic C] (no consultation fee; consultation with the director only). The director directly marked and showed me the crease on my eyes. Other clinics had not marked it, so I thought it was impossible to mark eyes that had already undergone double-eyelid surgery, but apparently not. I did not see before-and-after photos of other people. The director explained in detail how the surgery would actually proceed. This contrasted with the first clinic, where they lectured me about only their own strengths. Here, they said they do not create a double line; instead, they loosen the existing crease and create a new one lower down. They said I would have the existing scars as well as new scars. That is the biggest drawback, so I am completely put off. I was also told that the front part of the crease might be slightly distorted because of the medial canthoplasty scars. They explained that I do not yet have loose skin, so there is not enough excess skin. They said I would not gain much from revision surgery. They told me to think about it because it is a difficult operation, and it also sounded as if their opinion was that revision surgery was not really necessary. They explained that my crease may look thicker because I open my eyes using my forehead, and that forehead Botox could help, but I have already had it. The building was old and run-down, and the interior was shabby, but I was surprised that the price was overwhelmingly low. ...I was not expecting to be told that surgery was unnecessary, so I am flustered. My crease has not changed or become loose, and it is still the same as the crease from my first surgery 10 years ago. Is this an eye that is difficult to revise? Still, compared with how obvious it is that I had surgery, my eyes do not give a particularly clear impression, so I want revision surgery even more. I will visit more places for consultations. People say to choose based on the doctor's skill rather than the clinic, but I still have not found a place that makes me think, “This is it!”
