Hello~ I received a lot of help from this site, so I kept thinking I should write a review for people who feel desperate, but I worried it might become a post encouraging plastic surgery. Since there seem to be so many people having nasal revision surgery because of side effects, I did not write immediately after surgery and waited, and now I’m cautiously posting after 3 months. My nose was characterized by having no nasal bridge at all, thick skin, and a fist-like bulbous nose. In my first surgery, I had nostril reduction, Gore-Tex extended all the way to the nasal tip, with a little ear cartilage placed on top, done with a closed approach. The result was that the Gore-Tex became crooked, the nasal bridge was thick, and most importantly, they did nothing to the nasal tip. One nostril got pinched, so the nostrils became completely uneven.. It just turned into a high, crooked bulbous nose.
After 10 years, people around me slowly started mentioning the problems, so I decided I needed revision surgery and went to about 7 consultations. Even doctors famous for revision surgery on other sites and cafes said the nostril absolutely could not be improved and they could not guarantee correction of the crookedness, and four doctors sent me away. One famous doctor also sent me away, saying Gore-Tex would be difficult to remove. Also, several doctors checked my nose for only a few seconds and immediately had me put my mask back on. It was during a time when confirmed COVID cases were around 100 plus or minus, so I understood, but even during the consultation they were looking so roughly? I had the clear thought that there was no way they would look carefully on the day of surgery, especially if there was another surgery or consultation scheduled after me. So I gave up on them.
Among them, I decided to have surgery with the doctor who diagnosed my face most sincerely. This doctor really observed my face carefully and even told me that both cheekbones and the tip of my chin were asymmetric. And with cotton swabs and tweezers? or something like that, he repeatedly shaped my nose and I could see his will to fix it somehow. I thought, this is what a plastic surgeon should be like, he really is a doctor… and I felt reassured and comfortable… He said he could correct the crooked nasal bridge, and honestly diagnosed that the nostril asymmetry could be improved to some degree. At first I wondered if it was bravado, but I thought there was no reason for someone with decades of experience, who had even built his own building, to do that. He also used materials minimally, and above all it was not a hospital heated up about promotion and marketing. Since I was also referred by an acquaintance, I trusted him and chose him.
When removing the Gore-Tex too, he was separating it little by little with intense focus, and I could hear him breathing hard. Seeing sweat beading on his face, I felt sorry for no reason and said sorry during the surgery. What he said was, “The previous director probably used Gore-Tex because he thought it was the best option at the time~ Now that it’s all removed, half the surgery is done.” On the other hand, when I went to consultations, one person famous for revision surgery got worked up by himself, asking whether that person was even a board-certified plastic surgeon, and it was really embarrassing (ugh, seriously so rude…) Every time he injected local anesthesia, he told me he was doing it. Even though it must be very troublesome if the patient moves during surgery, when I was in pain he soothed and comforted me while operating. The nurses were also very kind and gave injections in a way that hurt less. I have to go to the hospital often for follow-up checks, and even though the director is busy, he always greets me with a warm smile!
My crooked nose has all been corrected and is now centered, the nasal tip has become slimmer than before, and the nostrils are not 100%, but they have been matched to some degree with alar lowering. I really feel so fortunate that I had surgery from someone experienced and conscientious. I also was someone who had not been thinking about nasal revision surgery, but people around me started noticing my crooked nose, so I was stressed while looking into it as if doing homework. I’m gathering courage to post this in the hope that before the doctor retires, even one person can escape the painful cycle of nasal revision surgery.
