This is a review of posterior canthoplasty at Baravon Plastic Surgery.
1-month review! First of all, I wanted a natural change! I already had double eyelids, but I didn’t like the slightly stuffy-looking feeling, and my biggest goal was to get rid of that stuffy look, even if it wasn’t a major change!
While looking into posterior canthoplasty, I also looked into double eyelid surgery, but double eyelid surgery didn’t seem like it would give me the effect I wanted. I went around to about five places for consultations, and Director Oh Hyun-bae explained things honestly and in detail! He said that if I had the surgery, it would look so subtle it would be like I had done it but not done it, that it would give me the natural look I wanted, and since a lot of the red tissue shows at the front of my eyes, lowering the outer corners would improve my overall impression! He showed confidence in the surgery and told me everything really honestly, so I trusted him the most!
I booked the surgery right away, and before surgery I received the precautions, had one more consultation with the director, had surgery for about 1 hour, recovered for about 30 minutes, and then left. And more than anything, they didn’t anesthetize me until the director came into the operating room; after he came in, he did the design, and anesthesia was performed while I saw the director’s face. Since there’s so much talk about these things these days, that part made me feel really reassured and was good.
After surgery, my eyes just felt a little numb and tight, and there was no pain at all! Also, I’m naturally prone to dryness, so they said conjunctival edema might be a bit severe, and they also said there are many patients with conjunctival edema these days, maybe because of the weather. The conjunctival edema did last about two weeks, so I kept getting medication and treatment. Other than that, I think I recovered well without any major issues.
They said that because my bone is close, there wasn’t much length available for posterior canthoplasty. About 2 mm? For the left side, they said the length was better and the height would come down a bit more; for the right side, they said it could be opened a bit longer. About 3 mm. There really wasn’t a huge change, so people around me actually didn’t notice! It was a change only I could notice, and because of my eye structure, that was also the only extent possible, and I’m satisfied because I had the surgery the way I wanted!
And more than anything, I think the director is truly delicate and the type to be meticulous even with small details. So even now, when I think about how the hospital nurses checked whether I had fasted on the day of surgery, and how they disinfected inside my mouth with Garglin before surgery and proceeded with each step really thoroughly, I feel I made the right choice trusting them!
