<Original nose: hump + drooping nasal tip> After <2 weeks post-op> It’s week 2, day 15 after nose surgery. As of yesterday, all my stitches are out, and I don’t need to go to the clinic anymore. Since I’m writing the whole recovery progress, I’ll use a shortened casual style.
Surgical method: shaved the hump, shaved the asymmetric lateral nasal bone, raised the nasal tip with ear cartilage, and extended the length with fascia
(Overall review) Day of surgery: I had it done without even realizing the surgery was happening, it hurt less than I expected, and after surgery I had mucus and blood coming from my nose all day. My ear hurt more than my nose, and a lot of blood had dried in the hair at the nape of my neck. The director said the surgery went very well.
One week until splint removal: My nose was not blocked, the nasal tip swelled up like a soccer ball, and nowhere else swelled at all. It hurt so much when they removed the nasal packing that I cried, and honestly, having the surgery again would have hurt less.
One week after splint removal: Only the nasal tip was very swollen, so whether from the side or front, it looked like I had a soccer ball attached to my nose. But the swelling gradually went down quickly day by day. And a slight hump was still left. (The clinic’s aesthetic originally aims to leave a bit of a hump; they told me before surgery. I still wanted it all gone, so I’m disappointed it didn’t disappear.) Also, my original nose had severely uneven nostrils (the sizes were completely different, and even an ordinary person could tell right away if they stared at my nose). Since I didn’t have alar base reduction, that was not corrected at all. (I knew nasal asymmetry originally can’t really be corrected, so I don’t have much complaint toward the clinic. If I’m unhappy, it’s with my original nose that was severely asymmetric.)
Currently: Now the swelling has gone down a lot, so unless I tell people, they don’t know I had surgery. People who know I had surgery just say my features look more defined? But even to me, it doesn’t look like a surgically done nose; it’s believable as a natural nose. And the clinic still says more swelling needs to go down. (To my eyes, I don’t know what part is swelling.) Before surgery, because of my sunken forehead and ugly nose, bangs were a must, but now even with a sunken forehead, I’ve been told I look pretty with my bangs up. I’m going to grow out my bangs this time. Since it was open rhinoplasty, I was worried about the nose surgery scar, but even to my eyes, the scar is hard to see, so I don’t know where the open incision was.
Overall, the shape isn’t as pretty as if I had done the bridge, but I escaped my original nose, so I’m satisfied. But because it was more expensive than clinics that suggested silicone, I do feel a bit disappointed when I think that it didn’t become as pretty as a silicone-implant nose? Still, I wanted no implant as much as possible and hopefully no revision surgery, so I think this is fine. And after spending money, I definitely notice my asymmetric nose more than before surgery, but only I care and others don’t know, so I don’t think much of it.
Overall, there were hard parts after nose surgery, but now I can open my mouth wide, and from next weekend I can drink alcohol too, so I don’t feel like the money was wasted! Even if I went back, I think I’d still have the surgery. Right now my nose and ear hurt a bit, but the clinic said that after 6 months, my nose will be just like that of someone who never had surgery.
I’m worried about removing nose sebum from now on, but I’ll try to take good care of it. That’s the end of my 2-week post-op progress!
