I went into surgery around 1 p.m. on January 16 (it was originally 12 p.m., but my blood test results came out late, so I had it around 1 p.m.), and now it is day 5! Looking back now, I wonder what courage I had to go through with the surgeryㄷㄷ There is still swelling, so I do not really know if it went well yet (my face is puffy, so I cannot see the line), but aside from swelling there is nothing uncomfortable so far, and it does not hurt as much as I expected, so I am relieved.
It is nothing special, but I also got a lot of help from the cafe, so I am sharing my review!
1. Choosing consultation clinics (safety > cost)
Since I live outside Seoul and cannot freely take annual leave, I searched online a lot. I had to choose and come back in one day, so while searching I narrowed and narrowed it down and decided, let’s see just two places!
So the places I chose were two clinics that were more expensive than other clinics but had high safety. One was a place I had wanted to visit for a while, and the other had good reviews, so I included it in my consultation list.
2. Clinic decision
I went to consultations at both places, and the content of the first and second consultations was similar. My cheekbones were not large, but my face was on the wide side and I had a square jaw, and both directors recommended all 3 procedures. For the chin, I wanted to skip it if possible and just do a long curve, but they said it would be better to do the wide chin too, so I made up my mind to do all 3. The two consultation contents were similar, but the reason I chose the current clinic was the difference in the director’s confidence. At the first clinic, even while explaining, he felt like he was slightly holding back? (to put it nicely, cautious), while at the second clinic, he showed confidence, like “we will proceed with surgery like this, and this kind of face shape will come out!” I think people may like or dislike that, but personally I like people who are confident in their field, so I chose the latter.
(The service was good at both, but the second clinic also said they would do Shurink for me!)
3. After surgery
1) First day
While lying on the operating table, I thought, “What am I doing right now, with no fear...” and then I fell asleep, and the surgery was over. I was lying in the recovery room with a call button? in my hand.
After coming to my senses a bit, I moved to my private hospital room.
(I do not know because this is the only hospital room I have been to, but it was very clean and cozy. Highly recommend!) I am very scared, so when I lay there holding the nurse’s hand and tearing up, she patted me and reassured me that it went well. If I had seen my mom’s face right away, I almost would have criedㅠㅠ
When I pressed the call button, they came right away, so feeling a bit reassured, I sent current photos to my family, watched TV, zoned out, dozed, slept, vomited, and the first day passed. I wanted water so badly, and TV kept showing cola commercials, so it was really hard. But I think I understood why they told me not to drink water. Because even if I drank it, I would just vomit and it would be harder..
One tip in advance... Make sure you let all the anesthetic gas out before sleeping... I fell asleep without getting all the anesthetic gas out, and I had a hard time at dawn, so I rang ding-dong ding-dong a lot ㅠㅜ And they said if you get a hemostatic injection, vomit comes up, and within a few seconds it came right up. I do not know if there are others who vomit easily like me (I usually get severe motion sickness and vomit easily), but if you are like me, definitely ask for a vomit basin!
2) Second day
On the second day, they removed the blood drain, and maybe because I rang ding-dong ding-dong so much the day before, they removed mine first (though they only do two surgeries a day, so first out of two... lol)
I was a little tense because people said it hurt, but before I could get more tense, it was pulled out smoothly, and rather than feeling pain, I was happy thinking, can I drink water now? I was walking in front of the hospital room when my mom came to pick me up, so I received the precautions and medication and came home. As expected, seeing my mom’s face made me tear up.. She had come the previous day and said she would stay with me, but guardians had to leave the hospital room at 9 p.m., so she came the next day!
After coming home, I was resting while leaning back at an angle, and as my family came home from work, they bought all kinds of drinks. Until the second day, I only drank water, so it was useful! (My throat hurt so, so, so much. Because my throat hurt, I did not feel hungry, and I only thought about water-type things. You need a lot to drink!!) Other than my throat, nothing hurt, and everyone said I was less swollen than expected. I thought so too, so I felt okay.
3) Third day
Wow... I thought my face was going to burst. I wore the compression band until this day, and my face got so huge that it swelled up to under my eyes, so my family kept asking if I needed anything and coming by.. Even to me, it was a face that made people worry.
(Meanwhile, I only worried and did not walk because it was cold..)
4) Fourth day
My face is still tight and swollen, and I started eating soup. They made mushroom soup for me, but the mushrooms get stuck in my throat ㅠㅠ You should either boil it without them or take them out before eating. A regular spoon at home has a blunt tip, so eating with a disposable spoon with a pointed tip was a little more comfortable. Still, eating something made me feel good! Even while my family was eating jokbal, I firmly finished a bowl of mushroom soup.
(I drank a lot of pumpkin juice and did not walk)
5) Fifth day
Compared with the day before and the day before that, the swelling has gone down a lot, but it is still very swollen.. I hope the swelling goes away quickly and the lines come out ㅠㅠ My voice is still hoarse, but it comes out better day by day!
For food, I ate beef porridge, but even those tiny grains of rice get stuck in my throat.. I am back to eating soup.
(Today I am deciding whether to go walking or not)
