I used them once or twice a month when I had plans.. But in the summer my eyes would get sticky; and because washing it off was annoying, I didn’t wash properly, so my eyelids stung and felt like they were stretching. There were so many uncomfortable things (back then, even doing makeup took over an hour.. almost like stage makeup..)
Still, my parents kept their promise that they would let me get double eyelid surgery once I became an adult, so I was able to do it right away. What I wanted was a line that suited my eyes + naturalness + an eye style that wouldn’t go out of fashion even after years, so when I went around consulting, I focused on >>the director’s skill<< rather than factory-style clinics.
If I list the standards I used:
1. A clinic that is not factory-style As a simple example, many single-doctor clinics have no proxy surgery, and the director personally handles everything from consultation to surgery and postoperative care.
2. A clinic famous for revision surgery I thought clinics that do many revision surgeries would be better at difficult eyes than clinics that mostly do first surgeries.
3. A place where the director’s experience is not short For this, you shouldn’t only look at the year the clinic opened, but at the director’s career history. Surgery isn’t done by the clinic; it’s done by the director’s hands.
4. A place with a generous AS period Generally, many eye surgeries have a 1-year period, but I liked that this place offered 3 years.
I had surgery at a place that met all these conditions, and I didn’t only get double eyelid surgery. Since I had uneven eyes, I also had epicanthoplasty and ptosis correction together. Since it was my first surgery and it was incisional, it was psychologically burdensome, but the director seemed very confident in the surgery, and the clinic had a lot of postoperative swelling-care management, so I decided to trust them and go for it, you know? But honestly.. hmm.. for about 1-2 months, I think my feelings changed a lot mentally lol
At 1 month, honestly, I was worried because the line looked a bit high. I even wondered, did my surgery fail? Since I had used double eyelid glue for a long time, I chose incisional surgery because I was worried it would come undone, but I wondered if I had been too greedy But since this place specializes in eyes, they don’t just ignore you after surgery; they regularly check your progress and look at the condition of your eyes. The director said it was definitely still swollen and that we should keep watching and wait a little longer. But seriously, like a lie, after around day 40, the swelling went down.. It completely returned to the line we had planned during the consultation with the director? If it felt a bit overwhelming at 1 month, by the time I was almost at 2 months, it had changed into the line I wanted.
Now the time it takes to do makeup has decreased a lot (I think it takes about 20-30 minutes lol), and since my uneven eyes are now exactly symmetrical, my stress has gone way down too Taking photos is fun now.. Since it hadn’t been long since I stopped being a minor, I went with my mom for both the consultation and surgery. I heard that the director explained things well not only to me but also to my mom so she could fully understand the surgery, and even said he would make it look pretty and come back, so I was really touched.. My mom, who was skeptical about plastic surgery at first, now likes it even more than I do.
Ah! For reference, everyone looking into surgery, when you have consultations, I recommend getting surgery at a clinic that carefully checks things like your eye structure and the size of both pupils.. I also first learned here that the black parts of my two eyes appear different in size.. lol It was really fascinating;; I realized all over again that surgery has to be done after understanding even things like this. Anyway, there were times when I worried because it was incisional, but now I think I wouldn’t have been this satisfied if it hadn’t been incisional, so I’m glad I had the surgery as diagnosed.
