I had been curious about why they had loosened, and it felt like the director gave me the answer. I told them the direction I wanted, and we looked at the line together in the mirror. They checked a variety of looks, from glamorous to natural, and tried hard to match my needs, which I appreciated. They even checked the image with my eyes closed and open, and I was grateful they looked so carefully.
