Day 5 After Double Jaw Surgery + 2 Facial Contouring Procedures

A case of mild retruded chin + protruding mouth + mild asymmetry After looking into it for several years, I had surgery at a dental clinic for cosmetic double jaw surgery. Without any extra charge, they advanced my chin and slightly refined my square jaw. When I go back in 1 year to have the pins removed, I’m also going to do my cheekbones. Because of the swelling, I don’t think there’s much point in uploading photosㅜ I had extraction orthodontic treatment in the past, and I also need orthodontic treatment before and after double jaw surgery.

More than the risks of the surgery, the aftereffects of general anesthesia are hard to endure. The surgery itself is not a big deal as long as the doctor is skilled. Pain at the surgical site is tolerable with painkiller injections, but because of the anesthesia tube insertion, my throat and inside of my nose swelled, I was dizzy, and on day 2 my mouth was tied shut so I couldn’t open it. Speaking was one thing, but breathing was extremely difficult. I couldn’t sleep at night. On top of that, because the compression bandage pressed on my face, my swollen ears also hurt and it was uncomfortable, and since I was breathing through my mouth, my mouth and tongue drying out was so painful. I couldn’t even drink water for 8 hours on the day of surgery. Even after 8 hours, I couldn’t gulp it down, only wet my mouth a littleㅜ. General anesthesia twice is something I can’t doㅜ I also had signs of a cold then.. From day 2, the inside of my nose and my face swelled more than on day 1. I think breathing became harder from then. You develop a fear of not being able to breathe while sleeping.. Since breathing could stop midway, I slept wearing a blood pressure monitor and with my guardian. From days 3-4, when the swelling in my throat and inside my nose started going down, it became bearable. Until then, I couldn’t eat anything except water. I got by on IV fluids, and because my body was uncomfortable, I didn’t even want to eat. On day 4, the IV was also removed, so moving around became easier. I had yogurt milk. Being hospitalized for 4 nights and 5 days is so boring and hard. Even more if you share a hospital room with someone else. You can’t wash or brush your teethㅠㅠ Even after discharge, for 1-2 weeks I couldn’t gargle or brush my teeth, and my mouth was tied shut, so at home I’m only drinking liquids with no solids and am on a forced diet until my mouth is released. I lost 2 kg. Don’t buy even one expensive pharmacy medicine that’s said to help with swelling. From the day of surgery for several weeks anyway, you can’t take pills, and even powdered medicine is barely manageable. During that period, the swelling is already going down; it’s completely a sales tactic; just buy Otrivin to open your nose. The hospital gives separate prescription medicine at discharge. Once the swelling goes down, I’ll bring more photos.
