Review of revision surgery to lower the double-eyelid line

10 years ago, I had epicanthoplasty + incisional double-eyelid surgery in my neighborhood, and it was a complete failure. My eyes already showed a lot of lacrimal caruncle and were sufficiently long horizontally, but they still did epicanthoplasty, and they made my eyes look fierce... At the time, they were sausage eyelids, but after about 4 years I escaped the sausage look. Still, the double-eyelid fixation was so deep that I couldn’t close my eyes outside, whether on public transportation or anywhere else. So 2 years ago, I paid almost top price at a famous place in Apgujeong to lower the line.   What I want to say here is, if you just have sausage eyelids, that’s okay. But if you have a case of sausage eyelids with deep fixation like mine, don’t blindly lower only the line... It’s insanity. No matter how famous a hospital is, it can’t be good at every surgery. That’s why you have to go around for in-person consultations, but I was crazy and didn’t do that at all. I only did a lot of online searching on Naver cafes, picked one famous hospital that seemed decent, went for a consultation there only, and booked surgery the same day like a sucker... Still, the director was very honest and told me that even with surgery there was no way to fix the deep fixation, and that the scarring wasn’t severe and it wasn’t really sausage eyelids the way I thought, so did I really need to do it? I hated the deep fixation so much that I said I wanted to lower the line, thinking it might look less puffy if the line were lowered. The director said if that was the reason, he would do it... I was obsessed with the thought that I had to lower the line, so I did it... I want to go back in a time machine and stop myself.. It really was an honest hospital, but it was a hospital that couldn’t release deep fixation. At the time, I thought, “If even a famous hospital says they can’t do it, would there be any point going elsewhere?” so I didn’t go anywhere else... You idiot from the past....   Later, after the surgery, while I was considering another revision and researching, I found out it was a place people with deep fixation like me don’t go to... sighㅜ Everyone, please make sure to go around a lot and get consultations at several places... For me, the line just got lowered a lot, so in the end I got an inner double eyelid, but the deep line fixation stayed the same, so really ..... I still can’t keep my eyes closed outside ㅠㅠ... I just gave up and live with it ... If it was going to be like this, I wouldn’t have done it..ㅠ   Something I found out recently is that for people with deep fixation like me, they either undo the double-eyelid surgery or make an incision, lower the line, and weaken the fixation to soften the scar.. I don’t have enough tissue/room for another revision, and at the end of last year, the last two places I consulted said that when I open my eyes they look natural, so I should just live like this, and I let it go.... When I learned this recently, I felt really unsettled. I wondered if, had I known back then, I could have gone to other places for consultations and had the deep fixation improved.. Even after letting it go, I can’t help it when regret comes flooding back sometimes..

That was my double-eyelid surgery review... Oh, when I open my eyes wide, the back part of the line doesn’t show either, so it’s an inner double eyelid. During consultations, two places told me the same thing: don’t touch my eyes now, and when I get a little older, I’d be better off getting a lift instead. Right now, because of epicanthoplasty restoration, I’ve been searching online again and have gone to consultations at a few places. I’ll go to 3 more places and have surgery in the summer. I hope everyone chooses surgery carefully.... If one surgery goes well, that’s truly fortunate, but the moment one goes wrong, it becomes a swamp of revision surgeries.. Each hospital has fields they’re good at, so make sure to go around for consultations and choose a hospital that designs and prescribes treatment suited to your own eyes.
