A genuine two-month review (long post warning; I’ll describe my case in detail).
I decided on the three-procedure combination and visited several clinics for consultations. I researched four clinics in total, and because of my schedule, this was the last one.
The reason I chose this clinic was that it was the only one that strongly discouraged cheekbone reduction. I was self-conscious about my peanut-shaped face and had tried various things. I even had one vial of Juvelook Volume administered over five sessions, excluding filler…
There are different causes of a peanut-shaped face: genuinely prominent lateral cheekbones, or hollow temples that make the face look peanut-shaped. Mine was the latter, and I even had fat grafting because of it. But temple fat grafts may not take well, and if done poorly, they can make the face look larger, even if the contours become smoother. Although I was the latter type, I clearly felt that my right lateral cheekbone was larger and more prominent, so after considering two procedures, I decided on three.
However, as soon as the surgeon saw my face, he mentioned the exact concerns I had been having. I was worried that reducing the cheekbones would make my face look longer, and he strongly advised me not to do it. His view completely matched my own, so I chose him.
Anyway, by one month after surgery, most of the major swelling was gone. Perhaps because the intraoral incision only extended downward because of the chin-tip procedure, I did not swell much. I had also been worried about general anesthesia, but there were no problems.
It’s been two months, and there is no major sagging. The jawline has become slightly less defined rather than sharply outlined, but I barely have any facial fat, so there isn’t much that could sag.
I have so little facial fat that, for someone with a peanut-shaped face, even Thermage alone would make the hollows deeper, and InMode alone would make the jawline clearly defined…
Honestly, I would like to reduce it a little more, but my nerve line is somewhat low, so it couldn’t be reduced a great deal. Still, everyone says my chin looks smaller, even though they wouldn’t know I had surgery unless I told them. Maybe because of my particular case, the difference is more noticeable to others.
The long-curved square-jaw area was actually fairly large too…
My boyfriend subtly disliked it and asked whether I would look obviously operated on, but after the swelling went down, he said I looked so pretty and was happy that my chin looked smaller.
I’m a little disappointed, but the reactions around me have actually been good.
The surgeon really does seem to have excellent technique; you can tell from a CT scan.
I hope people whose aesthetic goal is a little more natural than a very dramatic look will consider going there.
