Day 3 review after square jaw surgery

Before <front view right before surgery> Before <left side before surgery> After <immediately after surgery> <the day after surgery> After <day 3 after surgery> This was written in diary format.. so there is some casual speech.. Please understand I’m posting this here hoping my memory will help others

20/1/20 Surgery I was so scared of surgery.. and I’m also someone who gets scared easily.. I was more nervous on the day of surgery than the day I went to the military After arriving at the hospital, I thought about canceling so many times I’m a man in my late 20s.. What kind of glory was I trying to achieve.. why am I doing something like this.. I suddenly felt a lot of self-loathing, and above all, my fear of surgery was too great I was taken into the anesthesia room at 1:30 It was done under general anesthesia. Anesthetic gas came out of the mask. The gas was surprisingly irritating, so I kept coughing and then got groggy Then I fell asleep, and when I woke up, the surgery was over I came to my senses and was tied with restraints, so I asked them to untie me, and the anesthesiologist did.. They said I had to stay there for a while. The beeping machine sounds made the time in the recovery room really hard The first wave of regret after surgery came rushing in.. The bed was narrow, I could only see the ceiling, my shoulders were folded in, and my back was extremely stiff When I got to the hospital room, it was 5:30. There were blood drainage tubes connected inside my mouth Before I even had a chance to look at my face in the mirror, they immediately put on the compression band and started cold compresses I touched my jaw and mouth with my hand. Thankfully I had sensation. I couldn’t touch the area where the square jaw had been because it was swollen and soft. It felt like it would burst if I touched it wrong. I eventually touched it, and when I did, it made a bubbling sound ㅠㅠ I met the doctor, heard about the surgery, and saw my bone. Ugh They said the surgery went well and that it had been thoroughly washed and disinfected First of all, after surgery, your throat stings a lot. It stings more when swallowing saliva, like having the flu.. From the day of surgery until the next morning, you can’t drink water ㅠㅠ My throat hurt so much ㅠㅠ I was sleepy, but I couldn’t sleep. I had to hold out until midnight The reason was that the anesthetic gas had to be expelled from my lungs My jaw felt hot and painfully sensitive, like having a cavity So I got anesthetic and antibiotics several times. They gave them when it was time. I was already on an IV I sat with the bed raised, dozing off, but because of the blood drainage tubes I couldn’t close my mouth, so whenever saliva flowed out I wiped it and dozed off again, wiped it when it flowed, and held out until midnight Then I fell asleep.. But maybe because my throat hurt and I was sleeping sitting up, I kept waking up

20/1/21 Day 2 Morning appointment started at 9:30 They removed the blood drainage tubes. It didn’t hurt. They came out with a pop and felt refreshing I heard various explanations and was discharged Arrived home. I was sleepy all day but held out so I could sleep at night I took a refreshing shower, blew my nose, spat things out, did everything Mixed and drank a protein shake Drank pumpkin juice the hospital gave me Ate pumpkin porridge my mom made Drank black soybean soy milk I sat around and kept looking up hospital reviews I have to keep wearing the compression band and doing cold compresses. If I don’t, my jaw hurts.. Even then, my jaw would suddenly hurt with a hot sensation, but I kept enduring it with cold compresses Because I kept sitting, my lower back and neck hurt. Still, to minimize swelling, I sleep sitting up. I absolutely do not lie down At night, around 22:00, I took a walk for about an hour Even though I’ve worked out consistently for years, it had been a very long time since I took a walk, and it was truly a new experience I went out wearing the compression band, a mask, a cap, and a padded jacket hood I didn’t want people to see my face.. I came back home, washed, dried off, put on the compression band and an ice pack My throat still hurts a lot.. When I spit out bloody sputum it doesn’t hurt, but I think my throat hurts because of this phlegm.. I’m keeping tissues beside me and spitting it out from time to time.. The next day is the third day, and they said that’s when swelling is the worst.. I’m hoping I won’t swell, and I plan to sleep after watching Crash Landing on You. Today too, I’m sleeping sitting up

20/1/22 Day 3 When I woke up, my face was more swollen They say the third day after surgery is when swelling is worst.. but it’s too severe.. Bloody phlegm and runny nose keep coming out. Because of these, my throat still hurts a little I’m doing cold compresses and wearing the compression band well
