Before<before>After<after>Today is the day I go in to check my progress, so while I’m at it, I’m posting a cheekbone surgery review. I had it done by Director Lee at ㄱㄹ, and I’m one month post-op. I tried to take photos here and there whenever I could, but honestly I looked so ugly that I didn’t even want to look in the mirror... there was no way I could take photos Still, now that it’s been about a month, I at least look human so I’m posting photos along with the review.
When I was a baby it was fine, but as I got older and lost my baby fat, my cheekbones stood out especially a lot. My cheekbones were really, really big, so I couldn’t even imagine tucking my hair behind my ears Even in summer when I was dying from the heat, I could barely tie my hair up because my cheekbones were too obvious... People around me would say, why are you so bothered by something like that, but your own complex is only a complex to you, right? I was the only one dying from stress over it But even though my cheekbones stressed me out so much, I couldn’t get surgery until now because I was too scared
Honestly, you know how it is. They’re shaving and cutting bone, so how could it not be scary? I think I spent almost 5-6 years just worrying about it like that. But now that I’m really entering my thirties, I felt like if I waited any longer it would be too late, so I finally went through with the surgery...
I had seen so many people suffering in pain after facial contouring surgery so maybe I was overly worried. It was less painful than I expected...? Of course, it’s not that it didn’t hurt at all, and opening my mouth was uncomfortable and difficult, but it really didn’t hurt as much as I thought it would. I do think I’m the type who tolerates pain pretty well, but anyway, it was honestly manageable! The real issue was the swelling rather than the pain... I swelled so much that I wondered if this was even a human face. I clearly only had cheekbone surgery, so why did the area around my eyes and nose swell too? Someone please tell me When I asked a friend who had facial contouring first, she said that’s normal, but since I had never been this swollen before, I was really, really shocked. I worried so much, like what if the swelling never goes down It was all useless worrying though
I said there was almost no pain, but honestly, for the first few days I had body aches, so I couldn’t really tell Maybe I had been so on edge, but as soon as the surgery ended and the tension released, I got body aches So, well... along with that, I had no appetite, could only eat porridge anyway... hurt here and there too... and spent a few days where, as long as I didn’t look in the mirror, I almost couldn’t tell I’d had facial contouring After my body recovered, I wanted to eat delicious food, but I was scared because of the surgical area, so I spent sad days unable to eat freely... I went back to work from week two. At that point, you do look relatively human. But more like an ugly person who is puffy and swollen after being sick for several days For those who work, I think it’d be good to keep that in mind and prepare an excuse(?)
After that, there wasn’t really anything special, except I was very careful when sleeping and things like that. I was scared, so I couldn’t rashly sleep on my side and slept looking up at the ceiling I’m normally the type who rolls around a lot when I sleep, so thanks to that, my whole body is still creaking For those with rough sleeping habits, hang in there... this is harder than you’d think... Other than that, it was more manageable than expected and livable! If I can resolve a lifelong complex to this extent, I think it’s definitely worth it. If there’s anyone who, like me, has been sad their whole life because of cheekbones, I think it’s worth considering at least once If you have any questions, ask me!
