Hello.
I had lower eyelid fat repositioning surgery today at lunchtime (to be precise, lower eyelid fat transfer surgery).
For reference, I went around to about 8 places just for lower eyelid fat repositioning consultations, and in the end I chose a hospital that would do only repositioning well, without fat grafting.
My under-eye area is slightly hollow without much cheekbone support, so most hospitals recommended lower eyelid fat repositioning + fat grafting,
but after hearing about and seeing cases of side effects, I decided not to do fat grafting.
I had local anesthesia, and at first this felt burdensome, but I think it has quite a few advantages. (No proxy surgery, no side effects from sedation anesthesia.)
I was most afraid of the local anesthesia itself, but in reality, it felt like they injected evenly around the eyes, shallowly and several times, so it was just a slight pricking sensation, and it’s hard to call it painful.

Anyway, I had read a lot of surgery reviews and simulated it many times in my head, so I wasn’t really nervous before the surgery,
but once the surgery started, the fact that a scalpel was being used surgically on my eyes and the unfamiliar sensation made me feel a lot of mental fear...
(The only surgery I had ever had before was LASIK...)
So even though I was anesthetized and felt no pain at all, I got very stiff and trembled a lot. The director kept talking to me and tried to help me relax, but,, it was a topic I wasn’t interested in, so I couldn’t really relate...
Since I like exercising, I asked him to talk about that topic,
and from that moment, strangely, my mind felt more at ease, so I was able to relax much more and receive the surgery.
They started with my left eye first, and when doing the right eye, since I knew what procedure had been done on the left, the sense of burden gradually lessened too.
Right now, I have taping under my eyes and the area below the aegyo-sal is plump and swollen, but it’s not at an Avatar level like people who had fat grafting.
Post-op pain is also just about tolerable? It hurts less than when my eyeballs hurt after LASIK and I was rolling around.
Some people say removing the stitches and the time after that hurt more, but I don’t know how it will be...
Anyway, what I felt after surgery is.. I had only been agonizing over whether to do this surgery for 1 year.
Even after booking the surgery, fear came first, and when I got on the operating table, I regretted it and wondered if I really had to go this far.
But I guess once anything passes, it feels like it wasn’t a big deal.
I’ll have to watch the surgical progress, but after having the surgery, my mind feels relieved!
