I needed to write a post to level up, and I haven’t had any cosmetic surgery, so I thought maybe there might be friends curious about what it’s like 10 years after LASEK, so I’m writing this review The surgical method and price have probably changed a lot, but I’ll still write it.
This was in 2014.. Chronic dry eye, and because of frequent contact lens use, whenever I wore lenses, my eyes would get red and it would progress to keratitis. It was bad enough that the ophthalmologist I went to even said it would be dangerous for me to keep wearing contact lenses
After that, I tried orthokeratology lenses too, but they were so uncomfortable that I decided to get vision correction surgery. They said my eyes were suitable for both LASEK and LASIK, but I decided on LASEK, which was considered a bit safer at the time.
In 2014, it was about 1.5 million won, and the surgery itself felt like it took less than a minute, but I still vividly remember the tension of having to stare straight at the red laser During recovery, even with my eyes closed, my eyes felt dazzled and it was painful, but I was so happy that every morning when I opened my eyes, I started seeing clearly. Since I had LASEK, my vision was unstable while the cornea was regenerating, so for about 2 months, my eyesight changed day by day and I got dizzy if I read books for a long time After recovery, I think my vision was about 1.8
My eyes already had extreme dry eye, and after getting LASEK, they were so dry that there were times I fell asleep after applying eye ointment For a few years, I think I absolutely had to keep artificial tears with me. It was to the point that I couldn’t open my eyes in the morning without artificial tears.
What is it like now, 10 years later? My eyes are still dry now, but I think it’s about the level of dryness other people feel when they look at smartphones for a long time Even if I don’t have artificial tears, or if I run out, I can think, I’ll just buy some later (before, I couldn’t live without them) I had severe astigmatism, so I was already used to things like glare and halos, and I didn’t have any difficulty with that.
Would I do it again if asked? 100%. Even now, 10 years later, I can see well.
