At the end of December last year, I got double eyelid surgery to welcome 2024. I originally really, really liked my monolid eyes and truly had no thoughts of getting double eyelid surgery, but once the fat on my upper eyelids went down, I started getting so many overlapping creases. It made me look about 5 years older..ㅠㅠㅠ That was so stressful, so I wanted a double eyelid that looked like it was barely there, like how men get double eyelid surgery, (I wanted an inner-double-eyelid feel to the point people would ask why I even did it) But when I actually went for consultations, they said double eyelid surgery was the only way to fix the overlapping creases, and that the line had to be raised to some extent for it to be resolved..ㅠ (Otherwise, the disaster would be that another overlapping crease forms above the double eyelid line..)
For the first month after getting double eyelid surgery, I wondered if I had done it for nothing.. It felt awkward, and when I did my makeup the way I used to, I looked like an auntie, so I felt sad that my original image had disappeared. But after about 3 months.. once the swelling went down, everyone I met for the first time complimented me and said my eyes were pretty ㅋㅋㅋ (They don’t know they’re double-eyelid-surgery eyes...)
What makes me think it was good that I did it without canthoplasty is that it looks really natural.. And since it wasn’t incisional, the line disappears even when I close my eyes...
Now my friends say they can’t remember my old eyes. These were friends who absolutely opposed me getting double eyelid surgery because, before, when they thought of someone pretty with monolids, they would think of me, since I had pretty monolid eyes. But after seeing my eyes, they say it looks so natural and preserved my image exactly as it was. Honestly, I had never had any plastic surgery anywhere, so I had a bit of pride(?) in being naturally pretty, but now I regret not doing it sooner... I wish I had done it when I was even one year younger and prettier. When I look at old photos, my eyes definitely weren’t small, but they looked sleepy lolㅋㅋ
An older friend around me who also used to have pretty monolids saw my eyes after they settled, made an appointment the next week, and got surgery right away. Now she and I have the same second father Hahaha..... I had asked them to keep the line as low as possible, and I’m satisfied because they understood my needs so well and made them nicely.
The older friend who followed along also wasn’t recommended canthoplasty, and just like me, she only had her eyes stitched.
