Because of the hospital’s shamelessness, even though I am covered in scars and the shape does not even look like I had surgery, I decided that even if I had to live like this, I would not leave the hospital alone. I searched online for similar cases, consulted a lawyer I know, and also received advice from an acquaintance at the prosecutors’ office. First, posting online in a community was the first step. Next, through every person I knew, including broadcasting station reporters and writers I knew, I tried to report it to the media and have it aired. Since a lawsuit could be filed at any time, I recorded every conversation and phone call. I was able to show up without notice and record everything I wanted. Lastly, even if I could not receive any compensation, I decided to make it my mission for the rest of my life to bring this hospital down, and decided to hold a one-person protest. During the protest, I planned to make flyers and distribute them around the area for a year. And I informed the hospital. I told them I would protest in front of this hospital until the day I die. Not long after I gave this notice, the hospital contacted me. They said I could receive the surgery cost through medical indemnity, and the hospital would cover the rest. Even then, they said they could not cover liposuction six months after the surgery, revealing their pettiness and disgusting obsession with money. Seeing them try not to lose even a single penny, rather than thinking about the pain the victim would suffer, made me learn about the world all over again at this age.
I had a consultation with Dr. Kim Jae-woo at The Plastic Surgery in Seoul. He said that if I had come to him from the beginning, he could have reduced it to half the size, but because this was revision surgery, that much was impossible. He also said that the size was a problem, but because the postoperative management had not been done properly, the scarring was so severe that surgery was necessary for that reason alone. Even after surgery, ㄷ*** just wrapped me in bandages and sent me home. Since the surgical area had no fixation at all, the scar kept getting bigger and bigger. At The Plastic Surgery, even the preoperative design was different. At ㄷ***, they just drew a few lines on my chest and called it a design before doing the surgery. Dr. Kim Jae-woo at The Plastic Surgery used a tape measure and ruler to make detailed calculations on both breasts and created a design that matched accuracy and balance. After surgery, I had to wear a compression bra to prevent the breasts from moving, and I also had to wear blood drains for about a week. If I agreed, the surgical process could also be filmed. The medication he prescribed was also very good, and although it was expensive, it was a great help during the postoperative treatment process. I could tell that the surgery had been done properly.
Because of ㄷ***, I had distrust toward plastic surgery clinics and was worried, but meeting Dr. Kim Jae-woo was a stroke of luck within my misfortune, and I am so grateful. He is a young doctor, but his skill was truly excellent. The surgical area was almost perfect, and my husband was amazed too, saying his skill was so good. More than anything, I was moved by his character. He understood the patient’s feelings well and only told me what was accurate. He is handsome, warm-hearted, highly skilled, and performs surgery and treatment with sincere care. If I may say this, those planning to have breast surgery, do not go elsewhere; go to him. If it were not for him, I would have lived without knowing what a well-done surgery is. I am so grateful that when I visit the hospital for this treatment, I plan to give him a famous strawberry siru cake from Sungsimdang in Daejeon as a gift.
Many people sent me private messages, and among them were some heartbreaking stories. I believe things like this should not happen, but when they do, I hope you fight to reclaim your rights. Younger people may hesitate because of work or embarrassment, but if you cannot reclaim your rightful rights, you may end up living the rest of your life with helplessness and a sense of defeat. This is not shameful at all; it is dignity, and it is only natural. Only then will doctors become humble and stop playing with patients using skills they do not even have, just for money.
