At the point when it had been almost 3 years since I’d been making double eyelids with double-eyelid glue, I decided to get surgery. 7 years ago, after watching a YouTuber, I followed my older sister and went for a surgery consultation together. I don’t remember the cost exactly, but I think it was around 1 million won. It’s been a long time so I don’t remember the staff, but the director was straightforward, didn’t recommend anything else, and kept asking how I’d feel about raising the line. He also said it would be done with dissolvable sutures, and after a few years they would dissolve and look more natural. And from the director’s point of view, he said my eyes didn’t need ptosis correction. At the time, I wanted to keep the exact double-eyelid line I had made with glue, so I asked for it to be thin and natural. After deciding to do it and going in on surgery day, I consulted with the director again. He didn’t say anything until right before the surgery, then talked with the staff and told me to come back in, so I went to the consultation room. But after looking again, he said I should do ptosis correction, and said he’d discount the ptosis correction cost a bit more and do it for 1.2 million won. Even right before surgery after anesthesia, the director asked how I’d feel about raising the line just a little, so I decided to trust him and raised it by 1-2 mm at the end. (For anesthesia, they didn’t apply a separate numbing cream and just did local anesthesia directly around the eyes, and it was seriously the worst pain I’ve ever felt. I really had tears streaming down while getting anesthesia.) Because it was local anesthesia, I kept feeling that something was being done throughout the whole surgery, so it was scary, and it hurt a little when fat was removed. On the way home, as the anesthesia wore off, it hurt so much every time I blinked that I got off the subway on the way, went to an ophthalmology clinic, urgently put in artificial tears, and went home crying. There wasn’t much bruising, and the major swelling seemed to mostly go down within 1-2 weeks. Still, after sleeping and waking up, it was okay. After surgery, I went about 2-3 times? at one-week intervals and got swelling laser treatment. After 1-2 months, I visited for a progress check, and the director said he didn’t like the left line and asked how I’d feel about slightly revising only the tail end. When I redid only the end, they also did it under local anesthesia. Maybe I put a lot of force into my eye then, because my eye bruised dark blue. After that, the swelling went down and it completely settled. About a year later, if I didn’t say I had double-eyelid surgery, people wouldn’t know, and acquaintances were surprised when I said I had it, complimenting me that it turned out naturally and well. I also liked it and lived well with it. But recently, even though it’s been years since surgery, when I looked in the mirror, I could see sutures that they said would dissolve, but they hadn’t dissolved. Once I started seeing them, the visible stitches bothered me more and more. And maybe because my left eye originally has a lot of eyelid skin, the front of the eye feels a bit loosened... The sutures didn’t dissolve, they show when I close my eyes, and the revised part on the left was only the end, so the line isn’t even. I’m looking for a revision clinic to raise the line a bit more. When I went to another clinic (my own money) for a consultation, they said there are no places that do surgery with dissolvable sutures... I found out during the consultation that black silk had been used. They said if black silk is used, it can sometimes show when the eyes are closed. If you’re looking into double-eyelid surgery, it may be good to ask what color suture they use!!
Is there any director who can make it not loosen, keep the line clean, leave minimal scarring, and make it natural.... I hope this will be my last revision
