First of all, personally, my nose is definitely bulbous, and I also have a lot of tip tissue. As a child, I was often compared by my face, and although all of this was not only because of my bulbous nose, I had been getting stressed out by a lot of different things, so I decided to have surgery. Since nose surgery carries a high risk of complications, I was not planning to go overboard. My mindset was more like: just correct the bulbous nose... or at least tidy up the line neatly...
I wanted to visit more places, but there were some I could not go to, and in the end my list became these clinics: nn, kw, joojoo, ssa, and dd (could not go there, sob). I had also visited a clinic in Busan called hn much earlier, so I will write about that too.
● nn (ghj -> bsy) - At first I called and said I wanted a consultation with Director ghj, then went there. I waited 20 minutes for the manager, and then suddenly they said the chief director was busy with overseas matters and that I could only consult tomorrow, so they assigned Director bsy to me... but even after that, I think I waited more than 40 minutes in an empty office just waiting for this person. - I went prepared because the reviews said the staff were unfriendly, but they were much kinder than I expected. - CT scan available / but even though they took one, there was not much detailed explanation. - Recommended: cartilage binding + tip projection + alar reduction - Materials: donated costal cartilage, septal cartilage, ear cartilage, 5 mm silicone They said the bulbous nose was severe and that my septal cartilage would probably not be sufficient, so they suggested using rib cartilage. They said it was a severe bulbous nose, but as soon as I heard 5 mm silicone I did feel a bit resistant.. - You can view the CCTV, but I do not remember how much they said it would cost. - They do try to lead you toward paying a deposit / around 10 / if surgery becomes impossible, the deposit is non-refundable - Aftercare: swelling laser and exfoliation on day 1 and at one week - AS period: 1 year and 6 months - Price: 510 (no deposit)
▶ Both bulbous nose cases and rhinoplasty in general were mentioned a lot, and the reviews are pretty, but... after searching, the rating is actually on the lower side overall... and on the day itself, when the director could not meet me, they brought someone else, which lowered my trust...
● kw (ght) - The staff were so-so, but the manager had apparently worked at a clinic like this for a long time and gave a very comfortable, kind consultation. - The wait was a bit long. I noticed some Japanese customers. - CT scan available / the director showed me a;simple; simulation in Photoshop. - Cartilage binding + tip projection + removal of tissue under the tip They did not particularly recommend alar reduction, and during the CT scan they said the septum was very crooked and that I would probably have had trouble breathing especially on the left side, so because I have a deviated septum, they also recommended a functional nose surgery. - They saw how cautious I was and told me not to use rib cartilage, but instead septal cartilage + ear cartilage + 3 mm silicone, saying at least 3 mm was needed. In my case, the bridge is quite low, so they said that if I want to correct a bulbous nose, when raising the tip, the bridge would also have to be raised together. I had expected that, because when I saw other people worrying about bulbous noses, I thought, Is it really that severe? - CCTV viewing is possible, and if accompanied by a guardian, live viewing is possible. - There is not much deposit pressure, but they did say there is one, and it has to be mentioned two weeks in advance. - Aftercare: day 1, day 3, day 7 - swelling laser, disinfection, antibiotic injection... something like that? - AS period: 1 year - Price: 450? I think so
▶ Since it is a private clinic that only does noses, it seemed like the system was well organized. They identified well what my nose needed... But functional nose surgery is something I had not really considered, so I am torn. It is tempting too... Likewise, the premium reviews are more concerning than I expected, so that is the part that bothers me... Still, the consultation itself was handled well enough.
● joojoo (gddj) - By this time it was evening, but even so I waited more than 30 minutes, and the manager looked extremely tired... They were not especially friendly, but I understand. - No CT scan - Cartilage binding + tip fat removal + tip projection - Rib cartilage + septal cartilage + ear cartilage + about 3 mm silicone During this process they strongly recommended donated rib cartilage. I had already gone around for consultations that day and just barely accepted that my bulbous nose must be quite severe and that I would probably need silicone, so when they brought up donated rib cartilage too, I was a little stunned. I wondered whether using donated rib cartilage would increase the chance of inflammation, since at some point an inflammatory reaction could occur anyway. But they seemed very confident and said such cases were almost nonexistent. In any case, the septum seemed small, but they said they would need to open it and check. - CCTV viewing is possible, but they said it requires consent from all staff. That was strange the first time, and since they said no customer had ever asked whether CCTV viewing was possible, I thought the second part sounded like a lie... Looking back now, I think the manager’s eyes looked glazed over, lol. Maybe they were very tired. - There is no push for a deposit, but if you want to secure it, you have to pay 10 percent of the surgery cost. - Aftercare: swelling laser is 50,000 won per session, but they said one session would be complimentary. - AS period: 1 year - Price: because I did not leave a deposit, it became 550... hehe
▶ Looking back now, maybe the manager just responded in a perfunctory way because they thought I would not choose surgery there anyway... Or maybe it was because they were that confident. This was also a clinic often said to do rhinoplasty naturally, so it seems like a decent place, but the premium reviews... that is what gets to me. Is everything like this? Please teach me how to judge reviews... The director explained things in detail..
● ssa (sys) - The manager was very kind, yes. Since they said there would probably be a lot of waiting, I postponed the time, but there were not many people. - CT scan available, and they explained everything in detail using that. - Cartilage binding + tip fat removal + tip projection - Rib cartilage + septal cartilage + ear cartilage + 4 mm silicone (apparently my nose needed a custom implant, so they would shave it down and insert it that way) From the reviews here... it seems they aim for a flashy nose... But still, even for a first surgery, 4 mm silicone plus rib cartilage felt a bit heavy to me... The director seemed to prefer a noticeably done style. When I said I wanted something natural, they said that the really natural nose is the one where nothing was done at all. Sigh. - CCTV viewing is possible, and full viewing is available only upon separate request. - No obvious pressure for a deposit? But actually, when the manager explained the price, they preemptively said, This price is only possible if you place a deposit - Aftercare: they check progress and care for you on day 1, day 7, and day 14 - AS period: 1 year - Price: they told me not to tell anyone where this was lol. They said if I contacted them by this weekend, they would give a discounted price, and although the difference is not huge, the surgical method makes it seem like a cheap option. That may also be because it is a large clinic.
▶ The director explained everything in great detail, so the consultation took a while. It seemed like they really wanted to put in a lot of silicone. Is 4 mm considered quite a lot? They said it could be negotiated if I said so separately. Still, it feels like it would end up looking very flashy lol Of course, with the same risk burden and expensive cost, it is better if it looks obvious, but I am a bit worried about the side effect burden. If my nose does not change that much, I guess I can live with it. Rather than ending up with severe inflammation and not being able to reverse it, maybe that is better. That part bothers me.
● dd - I could not go because I had delayed the schedule on the ssa side Looking back, the wait did not seem that long, and they also seemed to like a flashy style, so I felt like it was fine that I did not go.
● hn - Honestly, I do not remember this one very well. The wait was truly, truly long, and there was not enough information. - But they also recommended using rib cartilage, silicone, and septal cartilage... - There was no CT scan, and the manager seemed kind. The director was not very kind at all; they gave a strong impression of being annoyed.
I hope this helps everyone who is putting together a rhinoplasty clinic tour list... I went to all these places, but I am still worried about choosing a hospital. I wish someone would give me a blunt opinion after reading this... and tell me exactly which place is best. If you ask in a private comment, I can tell you roughly how much the premium reviews say.
