Square Jaw Botox: Effects, Side Effects, and Review

I’ve had square jaw Botox about three times? four times? since 2018, and the Botox I got most recently (this spring) was different from the ones before, so I’m writing this to talk about it.

I have a square jaw, and the bone itself is so large that it looks like it extends back behind my ears, so I got Botox just for the purpose of softening my overall impression. I did have a lot of muscle too because the bone is big, but since the bone was there, I didn’t expect my face to become slim.

When I first had a consultation, did I get 150 on each side, 300 total? Anyway, I got a very large dose, and after that maybe around 100 on each side? In any case, I remember getting a somewhat higher dose than other people. But at that time, I couldn’t tell whether there was an effect or not, but my family said it seemed like there was one, so I just accepted it.

Then recently I had to get hair removal, so I visited another place and got square jaw Botox at an event price. There, they had the dosage very limited, so I said I had gotten a lot at other clinics, but they said originally it’s correct to treat with only a small amount at one time. So I thought, ‘Again, there’ll barely be any effect...’

But after getting it, the effect was noticeable enough that I could see the muscle shrinking. Around 50 or so... Anyway, despite getting a very small amount, I was surprised because from the front I could feel a softer curve. I could feel that the muscle around the jaw below the ear had gone in.

However, there were side effects too. Before that, I had never had trouble opening my mouth or jaw pain, but for the first time, my mouth wouldn’t open. I was a bit shocked. And it was so hard to chew food, and when I opened my mouth wide, my jaw made clicking sounds. So I thought I wouldn’t necessarily get it again. For me, this lasted almost two months, so eating was somewhat difficult.

And at that time, I fainted after the procedure. They said it was probably because of the stress I had been under normally, and because my body suddenly became extremely tense due to the needle, but since that had never happened before, I remember being very flustered.

Fortunately, there’s nothing wrong with my body now, and since the price is affordable, I do think it’s worth trying, but it made me realize that even small cosmetic procedures should be approached carefully. Not everyone experiences this, and since it was my first time out of several experiences, maybe it was also because I was unlucky, but I hope you’ll think carefully about Botox too!
