Before getting LASEK, my eyesight was extremely bad. During the preoperative exam, my corneas were not particularly thin, but the amount that needed to be ablated was large, so my right eye was almost at the point where surgery could not be done. Fortunately, it fell within the criteria, so I had the surgery. The clinic usually guarantees that vision will reach 1.0, but in my case, they could not give a definite guarantee. When I came out after surgery, my eyes stung less than I expected and I could see well in front of me without glasses, so I thought, wow, I finally did this now. But when I went outside wearing sunglasses, my eyes stung so much I could barely open them.. After that, I recovered well, and 4 years have passed. Now my vision has dropped again compared with right before surgery, but since my job involves looking at monitors a lot, I think it can’t be helped, and I’m satisfied that I can live day to day without glasses. Also, I developed glare/halos that I didn’t have before surgery, so I remember being flustered at first when watching movies in a theater because I wasn’t used to it.
