It’s now been almost 3 weeks since I had 2 facial contouring procedures (square jaw and chin) I didn’t want pins inserted, so I had rotational contouring/shaving I got a lot of help here before surgery, so I’m writing a simple review as a record 1. Before surgery - I went to consultations at 5 hospitals, decided on one of them, went for a second consultation, and scheduled my surgery for a week later The price felt a bit burdensome, so I considered doing the photo-disclosure event price, but I thought it would bother me later, so I just didn’t do it On the day I decided, I paid the deposit, had blood drawn at the hospital, went to a nearby internal medicine clinic for an ECG test, and ate lots of the foods I wanted until surgery I also bought porridge to eat after surgery, ion drinks, the 3-piece swelling-reduction medicine set, a mini spoon, and a toddler toothbrush I chose and bought a really small toothbrush, and I think that was a good choice. If it were even a little bigger, it wouldn’t have fit in my mouth They said I had to fast for 8 hours the day before surgery, but because my surgery was in the afternoon and the timing was awkward, I ended up fasting for almost 15 hours Still, maybe because I was nervous, I wasn’t particularly hungry I heard that after surgery you really want to drink water, so I drank plenty of water beforehand
2. Day of surgery - The hospital told me to come early, so I arrived about 2 hours before surgery. I paid, changed clothes, got weighed, took photos, then gargled with the red medicine they gave me and washed my face too Then the director drew the design on my face with a blue pen, and I went to the inpatient room and waited While I was lying down and waiting in the inpatient room, a nurse came and connected something like an injection port? to my arm. When I asked what it was, she said getting an injection in the operating room would be scary, so they were connecting it now, and later in the operating room I wouldn’t get an injection directly in my arm, but they would inject into this port instead. I wonder if that makes sense Then I watched TV, and when it was time I went to the operating room. When I got there, I was surprised because the operating table was so narrow. I wondered if I might roll off it Anyway, lying on the operating table made me extremely nervous Still, the counseling manager came in with me and held my hand, so I felt a bit reassured. Then they put something like an oxygen mask on me, said the anesthetic was going in, and after about 10 seconds? my eyes closed. When I opened my eyes, I was in the inpatient room Because the blood drain was in, my mouth was open, and my head was wrapped in a bandage. My hair was damp, maybe because they had washed it or something There wasn’t as much swelling as I expected on that day.. Honestly, aside from my jaw feeling numb/tingly and my throat feeling slightly sore, there was no pain. Still, I thought maybe it didn’t hurt because painkillers were going in, so whenever it was time I asked them to give me painkillers I didn’t have pain, but I couldn’t sleep and felt stuffy, and that was hard So I didn’t sleep a wink
3. The day after surgery. Day 1 - On this day, they removed the tightly wrapped bandage and changed it to a compression band. They also removed the blood drain. Some people said removing the drain hurt and others said it didn’t, so I was scared, but for me it didn’t hurt But even after the drain was removed, my mouth still wouldn’t close They also disinfected inside my mouth, I received Healite treatment, and they gave me pumpkin porridge, so I ate a little and then was discharged While receiving Healite, my face felt like it was wriggling? Like the flesh was moving around, so I was scared My home isn’t far, but I didn’t want to show my family my super swollen face, so I booked nearby lodging through Airbnb and stayed there for two days. They said there was a goshiwon linked with the hospital, but the bathroom was shared, so I just booked one personally But the air conditioner didn’t work properly, so it was hot Check whether the ventilation is good and whether the air conditioner works properly before booking lodging. They said I had to wear the compression band for 3 days, so I kept wearing it, and at this point that was the hardest part. Also, I had to sleep sitting up, but I just couldn’t sleep. From the day of surgery, for 3 days, I didn’t even sleep ten minutes. I normally sleep really well, but strangely I couldn’t sleep It wasn’t sharp pain, but my body kept feeling hot and then cold, and apparently that’s an aftereffect of general anesthesia I kept doing cold compresses, gargled every 2 hours, and even though my mouth wouldn’t open, I had to eat porridge and take my medicine. I started taking the swelling-reduction medicine from this day too. But I’m not sure about the effect;
Oh, and after booking the lodging, I used Baemin B Mart and ordered various things. They had ice cream and juices too, so I ordered pear-balloon flower root juice and Garglin too They also had pumpkin juice Honestly, it’s a bit much to go to a convenience store after surgery, right After surgery, ordering from B Mart and asking them to leave it at the door was so convenient. Please keep that in mind if you’re having surgery After surgery, ice cream was the easiest thing for me to eat, so I ate a ton of it. Still, I lost a lot of weight. Now it’s getting a bit easier to eat, so I think I’ll gain it back though
