Several years after getting double eyelid surgery, I developed something like a lump right above my eye.
At the ophthalmology clinic, they said that since the inflammation was right behind the double eyelid surgery scar, I should probably go to the hospital where I had the double eyelid surgery, so I went straight to the plastic surgery clinic.
At the clinic where I had the surgery, they said that because the foreign material has volume, this can happen in extremely rare cases.
(I personally think that, just as the ophthalmologist said, since only the eye on the side where the scar was left during surgery became inflamed, the thread may have been tied so tightly that it left a scar and twisted the tear duct pathway, but the clinic said they do not agree.)
So they undid one side, and the consultation manager immediately scheduled a revision surgery date very tightly. They said they would do it for free if I just paid the anesthesia fee, a little over 300,000 won, but I didn’t understand why I should have to pay even the anesthesia fee.
I paid money and ended up with a complication. It wasn’t simply that I was aesthetically dissatisfied; as you can see from the photos, the lump was really so big and painful that I couldn’t function in daily life.
Then the other side kept developing a double crease too, so I went back not long after to cancel the revision surgery date and had the double eyelid removed from the other eye as well, intending to undo both sides completely.
But when I entered the operating room, from a distance where I could hear everything, the doctor was in the waiting area losing his temper as much as he wanted and angrily calling me a strange person.
Am I the strange one? Did I make an unreasonable demand?
If I hadn’t heard it, maybe it would be different, but I heard everything, so I’m really upset. I have to go back to the clinic for a follow-up, but I’m scared and don’t want to go. I’m distressed, so I’m writing this.
