Before <Before surgery> Before <Before surgery> After <about 10 days later> After <about 1 month later> After <4 months, fully settled> After <4 months> After <4 months> After <4 months> I had always thought I had a lot of issues with my lower face. Because I also didn’t have much facial fat, it looked even more angular, and my face shape was closer to a masculine face shape than a feminine one, so I was really stressed about it.
But from what I heard from people around me, it seems like these days a lot of people are avoiding that very dramatic V-line shaving, like the so-called doll line and all that. I had often been told that my face looked angular, but I had also often been told that my side profile itself had a nice atmosphere, and I didn’t want to end up with an overly shaved “dog jaw” either.. lol
So I really agonized for over a year about whether to shave it down with facial contouring surgery, or just think of it as part of my charm and live with it. Honestly, since getting a consultation while still thinking it over doesn’t cost money, I visited just to get a consultation, but I was really surprised when they said surgery was possible while leaving the mandibular angle under the ear. I really didn’t want to end up with a dog-jaw look, but they said surgery could be done while leaving an appropriate amount of the mandibular angle. Oh, and I went in thinking of getting three facial contouring procedures, but they recommended leaving the cheekbones alone and naturally doing only two procedures.
There were also a lot of reviews saying swelling lasts a long time after facial contouring, but this really varies by person; for me, I don’t think the swelling even lasted a full month. Maybe it’s because I don’t have much fat on my face lololol And they did InMode as aftercare, and after getting that, my face seriously felt like it had become half the size. As the swelling went down, my facial line became much more defined, and since it became slimmer while keeping the original atmosphere of my side profile, I’m really satisfied.
Now I can open my mouth fairly well too, so there aren’t many restrictions when eating, and I take a lot of photos from both the front and side. And everyone says leaving a little bit of jaw was really the right choice.. lol I thought facial contouring meant shaving down all the bone, but through this surgery I definitely realized there can be quite a difference depending on the surgeon. Everyone who is considering facial contouring surgery should make sure to go to consultations at several hospitals, and I hope you have surgery with someone who can suggest a surgical plan that fits you.
