Revision eye surgery after 10 years, (allergy reaction) very long!

Hi, I had double eyelid surgery 10 years ago, but 4 years ago, due to an allergy, the double-eyelid line on one eye came undone. At first I thought it would get better with time, but the allergy gradually got worse, the line became faint, and my eye shape became asymmetrical.

The reason I couldn't decide on revision surgery right away when it came undone was that the allergy made my eyelids swell and caused dermatitis, and I kept scratching my eyes a lot. After that, the dermatitis still didn't settle down, so I kept worrying and time passed. Actually, there was a time when I thought a mismatched eye wouldn't be a big obstacle in life, so I also hesitated about revision surgery, but the reason I ended up deciding on it was that what had changed from before wasn't just my eyes. I used to hear a lot that I smiled brightly and beautifully, but when I took photos as usual, the uneven eye was emphasized much more in pictures. After that, I stopped taking photos as much and was shocked by how I had become someone who avoided talking while looking people in the eye, so I decided to have revision surgery.

Now, 4 years later, after overcoming the allergy to some extent, I decided to go ahead with revision surgery. I consulted many hospitals, but the reason I chose Lowel was twofold. As a resident of Gyeonggi Province, I also really liked the hospital's location right in the middle of Gangnam Station. It was the most convenient Seoul area for me to get to, so public transportation was smooth both for consultations and after surgery. It may seem minor, but it made visits easy for multiple consultations, surgery, and postoperative care. Another reason was that I felt trust in Dr. Kim Jae-yoon and the other hospital staff. During the consultation, the director and the doctor did not simply accept everything I requested; instead, they suggested aspects that suited me and looked good on me, and in the end we decided to proceed with a natural yet clear double-eyelid line and ptosis correction that would suit me.

On the day of surgery, I was under anesthesia, so I didn't feel any pain during the operation, and instead it felt like I had slept deeply for a long time, which was nice. The surgery itself ended faster than I expected, and after the surgery I had a little swelling and bruising, but hearing what I had been told during the consultation about the recovery period not being long put me at ease. The only thing I remember after surgery is that my throat was extremely dry from the general anesthesia, so I kept gulping down water. By the evening of the surgery day, my eyelids felt heavy and swollen, but I had so little bruising, swelling, and pain that I even went outside in the evening and went to a cafe. People I knew didn't notice at all that I had had surgery that day. For the first three days after surgery, the swelling made my eyes feel like there was a foreign body in them, which was uncomfortable, but after about a week the swelling had gone down a lot, and the second double eyelids became much clearer and more symmetrical, so I was moved seeing my face again after so longㅠㅜ

Because I knew postoperative care was important, I took the prescribed medication consistently, and when washing my face or showering, I was careful to keep water away from my eyes as much as possible. Even if my eyes felt itchy or there was a foreign-body sensation, I rinsed them with the prescribed eye drops or saline, and for about a week I also applied eye ointment and took great care of them.

I went straight to work without taking even one vacation day, but everyone who saw me kept saying whether it was because the doctor did a great job or because I have good skin quality, because I had very little swelling and only slight bruising in one eye, so they were all amazed and said it looked natural. Now, as I enter week 3, my eye shape is much cleaner and the natural double eyelids have been maintained well, so I'm really satisfied. The fatigue in one eyelid is less than before, and with the ptosis correction my eyes feel stronger, so every time I open my eyes it feels more comfortable and symmetrical, as if the double eyelids have been completed perfectly, which I really like. After deciding on this surgery, I was very satisfied, and I have been living a very satisfying life since then. I do regret not coming to Lowel sooner, but even now I feel incredibly lucky to have found a hospital that suits me and been able to have surgery there.
