I have small eyes, so I had epicanthoplasty twice and even lateral canthoplasty, but the lateral canthoplasty all closed back up. I tried to make my eye width as long as possible with epicanthoplasty, but my lacrimal caruncle became too visible, so I had epicanthoplasty reconstruction.
But what I was most worried about was my eyes becoming much smaller or looking like a blunt, wide-set “frog-like” shape, so I told them that if my lacrimal caruncle exposure was 100% before surgery, I wanted only about 70-80% covered after surgery (in the end, it seems like about 50% is still visible). But after surgery, when I looked at other reviews, some people had almost no lacrimal caruncle exposure at all after reconstruction, or their pre-op exposure was about the same as my current post-op exposureㅠ Would it have been better to close off the lacrimal caruncle a bit more... I’m debating whether I should have a revision to cover about half of what is visible now.
The distance between my eyes is 3.5, and my horizontal eye length is 3.0, so compared with the 1:1:1 ratio, my distance between the eyes is actually slightly longer than my horizontal eye length. If I cover about 1 mm more on each side from here, would my eyes look more wide-set instead? How does my current lacrimal caruncle exposure look?
I think the post-op photo makes the lacrimal caruncle look a bit less visible than it actually is. It’s been a little over a month since the reconstruction, so my eyes are still redㅠㅠ
