I had absolutely no knowledge about rhinoplasty and didn’t know much, so I was just blindly looking at cosmetic-surgery apps ㅂㅂㅌ and ㄱㄴㅇㄴ. Then a large hospital near Sinsa Station was running a 990,000 won rhinoplasty event, so I thought, this place is famous and the price is cheap too. I called, and they said that price was for the nasal bridge and nasal tip separately, and if I did them together it would be 1.8 million won with no extra charges, so I immediately paid the reservation deposit and booked the surgery. Since I live outside Seoul, going to Seoul just for consultations felt burdensome in terms of both time and money, and I thought that if it was a famous large hospital, of course they must be skilled ㅠ ..
I went to the hospital on the day of surgery full of expectations, but suddenly the consultation manager said that if they used the 1.8 million won material, that height might not come out, and if they used the 2.8 million won material, the nasal tip could droop later, so many people use sturdy donated costal cartilage, and with a discount it would be 3.5 million won ;; Honestly, it was so different from the amount I had expected, and when I hesitated because they said it could droop, the doctor just said to talk with the manager and left. The manager next to me said other hospitals were similarly priced too, donated costal cartilage was the strongest, and if I used donated costal cartilage, the nose wouldn’t droop and would come out high. Since I had come from far away, wouldn’t it be better to do it properly and finish the surgery in one go? There was no time, so I had to decide quickly. I ended up paying as if I was being pushed into it ㅠ
After that, the doctor came back, and when I showed him photos of the nose I wanted, he glanced at them and said these days people do noses like Winter’s more than flashy noses like this. I said I didn’t know who Winter was and that I wanted a high, flashy nose like in the photos. He said it was surprising I didn’t know who Winter was, but that he understood what style I liked and would take care of it, and the consultation ended. I wasn’t told even the basics, like how the surgery would proceed, how much height would be added, what nose shape they would make, what materials they would use besides donated costal cartilage, or what side effects there could be. They even said the surgery consent form was late because time had been delayed, and the consultation manager told me to fill it out while going down to the operating room, so I filled it out in a rush while going down the stairs ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
After surgery, the next day I asked the consultation manager that the columella area was taped and seemed to be bleeding, and whether I needed to disinfect that area too. They told me not to touch or disinfect that area and to leave it alone, so I only diligently disinfected the nostril wings. But later I found out it was an open columella incision, so disinfecting the wound was actually right. When I went to have the splint removed, the doctor said, why hasn’t the blood-drainage tube been removed yet, and removed it for me. Around three months later, I occasionally had nosebleeds and called the hospital to check progress, and they said both the doctor and the consultation manager had resigned ㅎ I somehow endured the nasal congestion and occasional nosebleeds, but from the 7-month mark the nose gradually started drooping, and by around November anyone could see a step-off had formed and it drooped like Squidward’s nose. I visited the hospital, and they said it was my fault for not being careful before surgery. When I said there was a smell from my nose like pus, they said that was a chronic condition and couldn’t be helped. They said the nasal tip drooping was not a side effect, so aftercare repair wasn’t possible. If I really wanted, they could put ear cartilage into the nasal tip for a fee, but it could get lower again, so they didn’t particularly recommend it and told me to just live with it ㅠ
The money went out as it did, and after surgery there wasn’t even a big change. When I looked up the doctor who operated on me, I found out he had already ruined several people, closed down, and moved around. Now he’s at another famous hospital, filming YouTube videos and seeing patients just fine ; If you don’t want to become abandoned and taken advantage of like me, don’t get tempted by ad events posted on ㅂㅂㅌ or ㄱㄴㅇㄴ. Don’t just look at large hospitals or famous names. Check what the doctor’s skills are like, whether their aesthetic goal matches yours, and even if it seems okay, don’t decide right away. Get consultations at multiple places and compare them, please ㅠㅠㅠ
