Don’t get alar base reduction ㅠ I usually think it’s best to listen to what specialists say, and that trusting them helps them show their skill and makes things go smoothly, so even when I had complaints up to now, I really tried to be nice, explain my situation calmly, and avoid getting upset. I kept holding it in and holding it in, but the side effects that keep appearing and the way they respond have made the stress impossible to bear, so I’m leaving a post about my experience so other people can make a wise choice. I’ll write as concisely as possible in a casual note style.
1. There was no effect from the alar base reduction. - Before surgery, I had already had a semi-permanent non-incisional alar base reduction. - I disclosed this during the consultation with the manager, and because of the risk related to it, I even paid about an additional 600,000 KRW. - During surgery, the doctor in charge did not know the location of the previous non-incisional procedure. (I think this is the biggest problem. Then what exactly are consultations for, and why was there an added cost? What additional medical technique was supposedly needed?) - In the end, during surgery, all the non-incisional threads snapped, and the preexisting alar base reduction effect and nasal tip reduction effect disappeared. - The doctor in charge says they did not find the threads during surgery and that there is no way the threads could have snapped, but no, they cut right through the area where the threads passed, so it makes even less sense to say the threads did not snap. They must really think I’m a total pushover. I heard the popping sounds of the inserted threads snapping during surgery, so I even mentioned it during the operation, and the doctor in charge has made the same claim before. - In addition, they recommended an alar lift, so I went ahead with it, but my philtrum became longer and I look older ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Maybe he was a doctor who only looks at the nose… Even if it’s a specialist saying it, I won’t trust it from now on…
2. Manager started gaslighting - As a result, I did not get the surgical effect, and instead, the existing threads snapped, making it wider than before surgery. The nasal tip also spread out somewhat and became lower. Even if the difference is 1 mm, or even less than that, you clearly know your own face. Looking back now, it would have been strange not to notice when it had changed that much. - But the manager opened her eyes wide and started gaslighting me, saying my alar base had gotten smaller. - Since the doctor in charge said it had definitely been reduced numerically, I asked during a later consultation with the manager what the numbers were. - The manager said she couldn’t know because they had not measured it. (I seriously wondered if I looked that easy to deal with. They said it had been reduced numerically, but then what does it even mean that they can’t know because nothing was measured? The more I think about it, the more absurd it is that both the doctor and the manager just said anything to avoid immediate responsibility.) - When I requested the preoperative photos, they refused to send the original photos, went into the staff room, and came out 20 minutes later with printed photos. When I received and looked at the photos, despite supposedly using a professional high-resolution camera, the quality was poor, and the preoperative alar lines were also somewhat blurry. (Because I questioned the surgical effect a couple of times, I started suspecting they may have Photoshopped the preoperative photos before bringing them out. Otherwise, how could it take 20 minutes just to print 5-6 photos? The manager is young, in her 30s, and from the moment she entered the staff room, I was waiting right in front of the door. Even opening the door, coming out to find an envelope, and putting the printouts into it was done outside in front of me, so there was no travel time or other extra time; it was purely 20 minutes of printing time… I’m being cautious because I couldn’t see it with my own eyes, but I already cannot trust them, and the circumstances are like that, so everyone needs to judge for themselves.)
3. Skin left with an open hole because of the suture - It feels a bit awkward to say this, but my skin is on the good side. People around me have always complimented my skin, and I had never had a hole form from something like a breakout. - Sebum built up abnormally in the area where the suture was removed, and once it was extracted, something like a sinkhole ended up forming. - The doctor in charge told me not to squeeze it for 1 year, but the sebum that came out was truly hard, solidified sebum, the kind of sebum that should not be left inside. You really had to see what it looked like when it wasn’t removed. If I had left it there, the pore would have gotten even bigger. To describe the texture of that sebum, it felt like a scab that forms over a wound. I took photos. - From the side, there is a gaping holeㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Because the skin is smooth except for the surgical area, it shows even more. This is driving me crazy, seriously ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ - For reference, another sutured area has a scar left in the shape of the thread. I don’t have a major complaint about the scar because I knew about it and chose it, but the problem is that the effect I was trying to get even while accepting the scar is not there. How can the result of this simple surgery turn out like this… Since I had had a non-incisional thread procedure, it may not have been my very first surgery, but I should still have been a patient with a relatively clean surgical history. I think ruining things with surgery is also part of the doctor’s skill… I really tried to believe until the end… but now I’m trying to admit that my trust ultimately failed…
Still, my case may be helpful to someone, so I hope you use it as a reference when deciding on a hospital or surgical method. I’m not recommending surgery, nor am I trying to stop anyone from visiting a specific hospital, so please refer to it wisely!
