My nose is high but has a hump. From the front, it looks high enough so it’s okay, but when seen from the side, the hump stands out too much, so I only wanted to correct that part.
But all the clinics said that if only the hump is shaved down, it would look like an avatar nose. They explained that from the front, the hump area catches the light and makes the nose look high, but if that part is removed, the nose would look too blunt and flat from the front. They all explained that they would slightly lower the hump and raise the nasal tip a little.
Other clinics like ㄱㅇㅈ and ㅅㅇ also explained it vaguely like this, so I thought this clinic would be the same,
but they analyzed my nose in great detail, showed me drawings, and pointed out every structurally impossible part one by one, so in the end I decided not to get nose surgery.
First, for a high nose with a hump, if it is raised any more, the nose would look too large and strange, so a nasal bridge implant cannot be used. Also, in the hump area, the upper part is bone and the lower part is inverted-triangle-shaped cartilage, and they said the lower portion of that inverted triangle of cartilage is too narrow, so when seen from the front, the part connecting the nasal tip and bridge is sunken in, making it slightly hourglass-shaped.
To make the nose shape I want, the bridge would need to be made somewhat straight without the sunken hourglass shape, and it would also need to look smooth from the side. But because this would be my first surgery, costal cartilage could not be used, and ear cartilage would be far too insufficient in quantity to fill all of this area. In other words, it is impossible to create the shape I want without silicone. They said that if it were made with autologous cartilage, a slight hourglass shape and some unevenness from the side would inevitably remain.
I didn’t hate the idea of a little unevenness, and I just wanted the overall line of the hump area and nasal tip to match, so that wasn’t too bad.
But the problem is that in most cases, when the nasal tip is raised, the skin toward the nostrils stretches upward slightly to some extent, making it look very slightly more like an upturned nostril shape than before. I liked the shape of my nostrils from the front, so I didn’t want that part to change. Then they would also need to maintain the nostril and columella shape with something like nostril rim grafting or lowering the nostrils? Then it would no longer be just one or two things to touch: the hump, nasal tip, columella, nostrils, and so on. I only wanted one thing, hump correction, and I didn’t want it to become such a major surgery. The total cost came out to 7.8 million won.
If it had been a low bulbous nose, surgery would have been somewhat easier, but since my nose is already high, it is a very difficult case to operate on. And I don’t think the satisfaction would be as high as when a low nose becomes a high nose. Originally, unless I looked at my nose completely from the side, I didn’t have that much dissatisfaction with it, and I didn’t think it was worth spending the large sum of 7.8 million won just to feel, >>?It’s a little better?<<
So I’m not getting surgery. ㅎㅎㅋㅋ
But after receiving a consultation at this clinic, it was clear that no other place explained my nose structure in as much detail as here. Now that I’ve already experienced this consultation, I don’t think I could quite trust getting surgery at another clinic.
From the beginning, this clinic realistically showed cases similar to my nose and showed me a >>possible<< shape, whereas other clinics seemed to show a lot of pretty noses even though the cases were somewhat different from mine. So I thought this clinic would be the place that could create the >>most satisfying result possible from the nose that can actually be made<< if I had nose surgery. If I really had to get surgery, I think I would have to do it here.
